RE: Picture
Thank you so much for the reply. My son is named after him "Ethan". I have never seem that picture before. Everyone called him "Eathern" from what I gathered. Allie was my great aunt and willie was my grandfather.
Thanks you so much for sharing this little piece of my family history. I never knew him he passed away before i was born. I would love to know where his father's unmarked grave is in Beulah's cemetery. I grew up in that church and was married there.

Is the picture you posted of Charles Gaston Sharpe?
If so, he is my great grandfather.

RE: Lindsey
I asked for a memorial that had an inactive creator to be turned over to me, for a long time nothing happened, then suddenly I got a message that it had been put in my name. I think they're trying to do better about that.

RE: Lindsey
I have deleted the memorial & created a new one in the other cemetery. I copied & pasted the original bio I wrote (it was long & detailed).

Thanks for the suggestions.

Yes, I have had a woman refuse to turn over my grandmother's memorial to me. I decided to make my own, and I wrote a very long bio for it & added photos. She was living with us when I was young so I remember a lot of the things she told me about her life. Sometimes I remember other things & go back & add them. She had a very strong influence on my life.

I don't know why the woman didn't turn it over to me, she never contacted me. I guess I could've asked the website to tell her to turn it over to me but I just made my own. Hers is still up, even after I made mine she didn't take it down.

RE: Lindsey
It didn't work.

I did as you said, hit Edit, then looked for a "Virtual Cemetery", but there wasn't one. I saw where it listed the Meadow Fork cemetery & clicked on "Edit Burial Info", but then all it asked me was whether he was buried or cremated or not known which.

I have no idea how to change cemeteries.

I've had this problem once before, I put a memorial on a cemetery with nearly the same name, in that case I copied all the info off & had to create a new memorial in the correct cemetery & paste it in again.

I'm going to check the right cemetery tomorrow & see if it has a memorial for Reuben, if it does I don't know what to do. If not, I'll just create a new one there. I may create a new one there anyway, I've not had much luck in getting whoever is making memorials on the Meadow Fork cemetery to turn over theirs to me, or even to make changes. I found one relatives-by-marriage had a very long name, it was written down on her son's death cert by the Sheriff who was also a cousin. I had talked to him in the 1970's & he told me she told him herself what her full name was, but when I contacted the memorial creator, they refused to put in the full name. (It used to be the creator had to do it, now they have an editorial process & changes sometimes get made without the creator's knowledge. In this case, the change was made, but then the creator reversed it, I still don't know why.)

I try to put as much biographical info & photos I have. I wish others would do the same. Sharing photos & info has gotten me in touch with several distant relatives who were interested in knowing more & shared info with me. I had one great-uncle who died of wounds received in WWI, a Clemson Univ history Major contacted me after he read his bio & said he wanted to add him to Clemson's Honor Roll. He had written his thesis on the war & included him, he was working on a book about the graduates of Clemson who went to the "Great War", which was a great number of students, 1/5 of the student body. So many Clemson grads went to the war that they surpassed the Citadel in number, & the Citadel is a military college. I told him I would be greatly interested in reading his book. The First World War is a forgotten war, it was such a failure that nobody wanted to remember it. Now that all the soldiers are dead, there's no one to say what happened. It's past time we took a good hard look at it.

Thanks for trying to help. If you think of anything else I might can try, let me know.

RE: James William / Reuben Lindsey
I tried using the virtual cemetery link, I do not have any virtual cemeteries.

Do you have any other suggestions about how to move Reuben's memorial?

Added by Jeni on Aug 21, 2014 10:54 AM

RE: James William
Thanks for answering.

I didn't add the extra Meadow Fork cemetery, actually it was already there & when I went to add a memorial for Reuben, I put it on the wrong one. I've been trying to figure out if I can move it over to the other one but I haven't figured out a way to do it. Do you know how to move a memorial?

I didn't realize there is another memorial to Reuben, but I appreciate your telling me.

The change I wanted you to make is the bio on your memorial to James William "Doggett" Lindsey, I told you (and you wrote) that Reuben didn't have a memorial, but he does, I also didn't know he was buried at Meadow Fork, but I talked to a cousin & he said he talked to several people who told him Reuben is buried in the left side of the cemetery near his Lindsey relatives, but he does not have a marker. A cousin named Lura Plemmons told him she sat up with Reuben's body all night before the funeral & attended the funeral. So please remove the statement about not knowing where Reuben is buried, he's at Meadow Fork.

James William "Doggett" Lindsey
I sent you one message about James William "Doggett" Lindsey (60995785)'s father not having a known burial place, but I just realized I did not give you the memorial #'s, so here they are. Since I originally wrote you I have been told that Reuben was actually buried at Meadow Fork Creek Baptist Church in an unmarked grave, so I added a memorial to Reuben (133171161). Would you please change the bio on Doggett's memorial to say that his father Reuben is buried at Meadow Fork in an unmarked grave on the left side of the cemetery near his children? Thank you.

James William "Doggett" Lindsey
I have just been told that Doggett's father Reuben Lindsey is buried at the Meadow Fork Cemetery, but he has no marker. I notice that I told you his grave is unknown. He is in an unmarked grave. Would you please change that to reflect his burial? Thank you.

You're most welcome, Nan. And, thank you for adding the updates. I hope you have a great week-end. I'll be in touch!

RE: Worleys
Hi Nan,

My primary connection to the Worley family is via Louisa Parham who married Henry H. Worley. Louisa was my great grand aunt, sister of my maternal great grandmother, Nancy Salina "Lina" Parham who married John W.F. Wells. You know me. :-) My research got side-tracked to the other side of my family for a time but recently, I've got back to the Parham side. Sorry about all the updates I've sent lately!

Yes, I have been in this cemetary so many times I couldn't even begin to estimate how many. My mother was raised there, my grandfather, grandmother, great grandfather, and great grandmother are buried there alone with many aunts and uncles. Our family had a 100 year reunion last year to celebrate the 100th year that our family has gathered every memorial day at the cemetary for a pitch-in and decoration.

If you will notice the pictures of tomestones in the B.E. Shelton cemetary, you will notice they are unique with dirt mounded up on the grave. Only a few have no dirt and grass. I can assure you that I know every grave in this cemetary and have personally helped dig several of the graves.

I am also sorry to tell you that Edna Teague is not burried there.

B.E. Sheltton cemetary
Dear Lady Nan,
I was trying to do some updates on my families cemetary and noticed you had entered Edna Avel Metcalt Teaque to the B.E. Shelton cemetary.
I'm sorry to let you know, but she is not buried in the B.E. Shelton cemetary. I believe there has been a mistake. Please take a look and hopefully you can transfer her the the correct cemetary.

Thank you,
Allen Atkinson

RE: Ledford Cemetery
Hi Lady Nan,
Thank you for confirming that Jobe Stokes Ledford is indeed buried in that Ledford Cemetery in Mars Hill. I always worry about dropping someone in the wrong cemetery, then losing my sleep for a year or two. I try to be very careful when I'm adding a name to a cemetery. I'd like to go up there and take some pictures if possible.
Take care,
