William F. Claxton

William F. Claxton (Find A Grave Memorial# 12960575) was the grandson of my 3rd great grandparents Forbes Claxton and Mary Mullin Claxton. His parents were Terrence Claxton (Find A Grave Memorial# 155175330) and Ellen C. Pearl Claxton (Find A Grave Memorial# 155193035). I know that William's wife's name was Laura, but I do not know her maiden name. My guess is that she is buried next to William at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. I created memorial pages for his parents and submitted a request to link them to William.

Philip Shafer Memorial 13852887

Philip Shafer is my great-grandfather on my mother's side. Would you consider transferring this memorial to me so that I can keep it updated with family information and connections that I have. I would appreciate it very much. Thank you.

Lon Chaney

I read a newspaper article on Lon Chaney which stated in his estate he left a $550,000 estate.

All but $1 went to his then wife and his ex wife got the dollar.

His son Creighton Tull Chaney (Lon Chaney, Jr.) was provided for.

Interestingly the article says there were provisions for a brother, John Chaney, and a sister, Carrie Keys. I'll try to leave the article link below, don't know if findagrave will let me, or Google will honor it for long enough for you to get it.

The newspaper was the "Reading Eagle" Sept 5, 1930 Page 6, article title is "Bulk of Lon Chaney's Estate left to widow"

I've not done any research about his family other than looking up the grave (and seeing you own the entry) and googling for "lon chaney estate"

heroes of Shoah
While going on a random walk I came across your memorial to Ala Gertner. I looked at some of the others from her story. I am a teacher and we as a group are doing a unit on genocides and the Holocaust. While watching an Anne Frank documentary I recognized the name of the museum Yad Verhem. So I went back to the memorial of Ala. I would like your permission to use your memorials from the Heroes of Shoah as a resource for our students. It makes the history more real if the kids connect. Thanking you for all your efforts.

Moe Howard
Hi Carrie-Anne,

Nice job on the Moe Howard biography. There are a couple of errors however, both common.

Where you say "Three years later, in 1925, Larry Fine joined their act." Larry Fine actually joined in 1928, and at that point, Moe had not yet returned, so it was Larry, Shemp, and Ted Healy at that time. Shemp was getting ready to leave the act and he thought Larry would be a good replacement, to which Ted agreed.

Secondly, where you say "In 1926, when Helen became pregnant with their daughter Joan, she asked him to leave vaudeville so they could concentrate on their new family. He agreed to this request, unsuccessfully working in real estate for a year, and then, just as unsuccessfully, opening his own retail store. It became clear that he wasn't cut out for a life outside of show business, and so in 1927 he returned to performing." Moe was actually off doing this business from 1927 - 1929. He returned to Ted Healy in 1929 after the abysmal business failures which you correctly noted.

Very nice job however, and thank you for your very important and well written contributions to Moe Howard's memorial on this site.

Hi Carrie-Anne
I don't know if you are aware, but a contributor has left a picture of the Holy Bible, which is, of course, Protestant or Christian. It is a VERY inappropriate memorial. Perhaps you can give the contributor the chance to remove it, or I know that Find A Grave will remove it immediately if you request removal.

William M. Wood
Mary Agatha Glynn O'Donoghue
Hi Carrie-Anne

Mary, her husband and Son (Patrick Joseph Sr & Jr) are buried next to their mother in the SAME CEMETERY (Fort Lincoln), but their FindAGrave entries are made by two other members. Is there anyway to JOIN them by referencing them together?

Wilmount Cemetery ,Galway

Another of your Titanic passengers 17861813, you have buried in the above cemetery. Not surprisingly this is not a known cemetery name in the Athenry area and I would suggest you review your sources.

In response to my previous post on Chappel Finnerty you will find this cemetery in Galway the GPS location being 53.43787 -8.36575.

If you visit the Galway Council site they have a tremendous cemetery location aid where you can locate over 300 of the County cemeteries and view locations from satellite views far superior to Find A Grave or Google earth for the whole County.

Thank you for all of your hard work at this graveyard. So much of my family (Knauf) is buried there. I live in New Jersey, so I can't get to Albany as much as I'd like.

Chapelfinnerty Cemetery

Hello Again,

Just a follow up to post in April and July

All cemeteries and Burial grounds in Roscommon were surveyed in 2005, Chapelfinnerty Cemetery was not included and does not appear in the survey material I have access to.

Please visit the Cemetery Viewer at

The memorials you have created surely deserve to be allocated to the correct location to add to the history of that community.

The tale of two cemeteries
I have rec'd. confirmation by both the East Greenbush Public Library and the Rockefeller Funeral Home that City Cemetery became Rensselaer Rural Cemetery and then became New Rural Cemetery. Now the question is how do we get these people all in the same listing... Any suggestions?
