Monica Sykes Pitts
This is for Patricia that left flowers for Abraham D. Burke. My name is Monica, I believe we may be related through the Burke family. Abraham Burke is my 3rd great grandfather through my paternal side. I would love to talk with you sometime. Look forward to hearing from you!

Cathcart, Steuart, Connery
I see that you left flowers for Calvin Knox Connery (59340678) and you research the Cathcart line. Three of my Grandmothers siblings each married a Cathcart from Marissa, Illinois. My question, do you know if this is the Connery that married Myrtle Cathcart Steuart (58638643)? Thanks

Help with ancestor
You left a message on my Great Great Grandfather's page Sgt. John Ransome Leslie, that said "Cousin". I have been digging and digging for months to know more about this family. Specifically his first wife Catherine Hart, and one of his son's Alexander Clinton Leslie. Do you know anything regarding them? Thank you!

Larri Jennings
Brownlee and Cowan
I think we might be kin. I am a descendant of George Brownlee, Sr. He was my 4th great grandfather. Also, his grandson John Archibald Brownlee married Mary Jane Cowan. John and Mary moved from Abbeville District, SC to Bossier Parish, La before the Civil War and we still live in the same area.

Ethel C. Pellett Burke
Thanks for the quick updates! I did that about 30 minutes ago. You wouldn't by chance be related to Ethel and Robert O. Burke would you? Or would you know if they had living descendants? I'm related to Ethel's people and have a number of old family photo's belonging to her branch, that came to me via her Aunt, who was my GG Grandmother.

Thank you for responding. Aunt Helen Burke, several years ago before computers, went to North Carolina to search out info on the Burke line. She said that she visited the Cowan house, which was still standing I believe in the 70's. She gave me a basic family tree. This started with Thomas I. Burke that married Mary Irwin in 1783 in Philadelphia, PA. Her info said that Thomas was born in Galway, Ireland, but no date. I have not been able to find info on Thomas. His sons were, William, Henry, and John Byron. Our line is from John, father of Thomas Cowan Burke. John Byron and Thomas Cowan ended up in Southern Illinois. Thomas I. and Mary Irwin, in my info, were buried in Sugar (Sugaw?) Creek Cemetary near Charlotte, NC. I did not find Thomas. I did see a Mary Irwin, but she was married to someone else. Thomas died in 1798 and Mary on Nov. 12, 1813. Perhaps she remarried? There is also a Thyratira Cemetary in Rowan County that many of the Cowan's and perhaps Burke's are buried. You may have this info. I would appreciate verification and other info that you may have. Thanks again.

My ancestors are, Burke's. Cowan's, Barrow's, Steele's, and possibly Campbell's. Francis Marion Burke was the son of Thomas Cowan Burke and Jemina (Barrow) Burke. First wife of Francis Marion Burke, Sarah Willtrout Burke, I believe is buried in Hazelwood Cemetary near Elco, Il (Southern IL), her stone is next to my grandfather's (William Edgar Burke)stone. Thanks

2 James I. Bonne s,,,,,MDs
Thanks so much for you message about these 2 with the same name and title. And thanks for the background information on both. I learned of the one that went to Texas from your excellent info about the Bonner family you sent to me. He was older than the James I. Bonner that "married" into my family, and had a most interesting history. Don't we wish he had written a book.
One of my McCain ancestors bought land in Freestone County, Texas and left Alabama before the WAR heading to Texas. He made it to Caddo Parish, LA and decided to remain there. Caddo is in the northern corner of LA on the TX border. I write this because Freestone was made up people from AL and word must have gone out about Freestone being a great place to farm.
Thanks again, Patricia.

Message mistake
Hi Patricia,
Message was not meant for you. Sorry! The blank spaces did fill back in with headstone photos that a volunteer had recently taken in Wilcox County, and I guess Find A Grave had taken them down for a while. The photo spaces were empty for a short period. Thanks for letting me know that I sent you the message.

Did you ever decide if there were 2 Dr. James Isaac Bonners? One the son of Capt./Major James Bonner and the other, son of one of the Bonner brothers that moved to Freestone County Texas?
Please let me know.
Thanks Patricia!

RE: Laura Alice Walthall Jones
Thanks for adding Laura Alice Walthall Jones. I found her husband, William Bonner Jones, listed in the Hamburg Cem. along with many Bonners. I found Laura's father, William Walthall, listed in the Hamburg Cem. too, and I made a memorial for him recently. April(Find A Grave member) just added some additional links, so I think we now link back to Mary Matilda Linam Compton from SC, Laura Alice's grandmother, buried with her mother, Sarah Alice Compton Walthall in the Allenton Cem.
I have a question about her daughter, Sarah Alice Jones Bonner. Did Alice Jones married a cousin? I would like to get this straight in my mind. Do you have a family tree on I know there were many Bonners in Wilcox County. William Bonner Jones' mother may have been a Bonner, too.
I am hoping you can e-mail me a mini family tree or a few answers to the family connections.
Thanks again for your work, Alice
