Stephen Kirk
I have located parents and Grand Parents (on Father's side) of Stephen Kirk who came to America in 1762. I also found a list of Stephen's siblings. It appears Stephen's ancestor's were from prominent middle class families in Northern Ireland, with past connection from both Scotland and England. I also discovered 2 kirk sisters, Martha and Jane, married Houston brothers who grew up in the same County that Governor Sam Houston did in NC. It also appears that the Houston family, being from England, changed the spelling of their name at some point, possibly when coming to America. I also found an English Kirk lady who married a man in England with same last name as the Houston family in England. I can't yet say for sure, but it is beginning to look like we may be connected to the Early Fur trading Kirks, 3 English Brothers who established a prominent (probably First) Fur trading Company that shipped North American Fur to Europe. I will have time in late fall to get active in digging out the facts of above thoughts. I will send you links to Stephen Kirk's ancestors in Europe soon but need your personal E-mail as I don't want to post things on Find a grave until I can prove same. I lost the prior e-mail you sent me as My E-mail crashed and I changed to gmail.

Tavenor/Tavener Toone was born circa 1796. His 3rd wife Mary Allison gave birth to Susan Frances Toone, my husband's great grandmother.

Frances Tune
Gloria,

I am a descendent of Travis Tune's daughter Nancy Tune. In your Global Find A Grave entry, you note that no one knows Travis' wife Frances' maiden name. I have run into a different name for Travis Tunes's wife: Millie Daniel, married Travis Tune on 9 Apr 1770 in Mecklenburg County, VA, died 28 Feb 1818 in Halifax County, VA.

I got this information from the DAR database. Are you a member of DAR? You don't have to be to access the DAR.org data base. Go to the genealogy research section and enter Travis's name in the Ancestor field, and you should be able to see what I am talking about.

I don't have any documentation to back this up yet -- I may purchase the info from DAR.

I wrote up a Bio for Willis #21994732. Read it and see if it's appropriate. If you still want a transfer, I would do that.

RE: Re: W. P. Childs
Be careful what you ask for!! You've sent a wealth of corroborating sources for Childs/Chiles! Looks like both & either spelling was used at different times. I'll try to get it sized down to a short Bio.

Thanks, Diane

Re: W. P. Childs
You sent an Edit changing the last name from Childs to Chiles. The stone clearly has Childs on it. Maybe you would send a short note stating that the stone is incorrect & site your source.

Thanks, Diane

That was not Johney Tune. It was Elizabeth. I am not sure of the last name. I am so sorry. Your hunch was right. I guess his is one of the nameless rocks out there that was used for a marker. I am sorry.

Hi Gloria! I am so sorry. I have been extremely sick. We just recently bought a vehicle now, so I can get to out to cemeteries again. I will get a tracing done of Jonathon's headstone. there are several others out there I want to get tracings of also. And again I am sorry about how long this has taken me. (I was in and out of hospitals,, with a diagnoses of severe COPD).

Gloria, first I would like to give you my condolences on the passing of your cousin, Lloyd Ann Rawdon. I didn't realize until just recently that she had passed away. Could you tell me if another family member is maintaining her memorials? I had requested the transfer of my gg grandfather. referenced above, but I was not aware at the time of Lloyd Ann's death. I have not received any response. Thank you and hope that you don't mind me asking you this. --- Mike Kimmel

Gloria, post away! I am happy to transfer the Tune memorials to you if you would like them. I'm working on a history of the families buried in the cemetery (I am on the Board). The first step is to bring Findagrave up to date with Calvary Burials. I am there almost daily, and I will ask the director to help me find exactly where Jennie is buried and make the site clear on find a grave!
