RE: Elias Covenhoven
Ann, I am sure you are correct about Elias not married at 12 years of age. I had taken the info from another researcher that had Elias born about 1788. I'm not sure why I didn't catch the age when I entered the info into Ancestry.com.
I have now changed his birth to 1779 - found this in other family trees in Ancestry. I will continue to research this family. If you send me your e-mail address, I will make you a guest of my Ancestry tree. My tree is not even near completion.
You can e-mail me: drandma1@frontier.com

Thanks,

#83701573 is not my memorial. Did you mean to send your message to the person who set up the memorial?

I found him in St Vincent dePauls cemetery. I misspelled his name as Kearn and it's Kearns

No I didn't delete it but when I looked up all the Nicholas Kern's I didn't see my entry. What cemetery was he buried in since I have no way of knowing that. Jack

I just checked in the Missouri Archives and Sgnes is listed as Agnes A. Vanbibber on her death certificate. When you get the photo of it up you will see that it is 4 pages as both certificates and their backup pages are in that one screen

RE: Agnes Kerns
You are right , Ann, if the stone says 1837 it has to be left that date, but she has 2 death certificates, the first looks like her birthdate was Sept 16, 1826. Information for it was given by a Mrs.J.A. Kooch, Memple, looks like MT. The second one clearly says Sept.16, 1836, and the informant is Mrs. Isaac Boyer. Easton,MO. However both of them say she was 86 years,5 mo, 2 days when she died on Feb 18, 1913.This is for your information only, because I am guessing that you are a relative on the other side , with the maiden name Kerns!
I also checked again on Census and in 1850 she is listed as 23 years old. Also, you probably know all this, her name on the death certificate No 218152.
However-----the date on the stone is "written in Stone" so we are stuck with it!! Sorry to have bothered you with it, I should have realized this.
If she is your family please contact me, I will gladly share what I have found about this bunch !

RE: John J. Grimes & Elizabeth Bowles
No, I'm afraid I don't have a cemetery for them. I assumed that since John was living with his daughter & son in law that he may have been buried in the same cemetery as his daughter was. Wish I was more help to you.

RE: John J. Grimes & Elizabeth Bowles
Thanks, Ann! I would love for you to make a memorial for them. I don't have any information on Elizabeth (Bowles) Grimes other than she died in 1874. Here is what I have on John J. Grimes:

Obituary:

GRIMES, John J. died at home of his son-in-law, Rev. C.J. Vandeventer, St. Joseph, Mo., June 6, 1881, age 82. He was born in Bourbon Co, Ky., Dec 19, 1799. Came to Pike Co, Mo. in 1825 where he married Elizabeth Bowles in 1827. In 1868 they came to this city from Pike Co. and thereafter lived with their only daughter, Mrs. Vandeventer. The wife died in 1874. By E.K. Miller (published 6/29/1881)

Taken from the book "Missouri Obituaries 1880-1881-1882" abstracts of obituaries published weekly in the "St. Louis Christian Advocate"

I don't have their memorial numbers. I'm just asking you to add John J. Grimes & Elizabeth Bowles to Elizabeth A. Grimes VanDeventer's biography section as her parents. Thank you.

RE: Pearl Kerns
Hi Ann, I understand about your not wanting to link two people as being married without proof. It's ok, the Kern family is not related to me.
A lot of the information I have came from a cousin who lived in the area and had first hand knowledge. His name was Lyndal Vessar and he provided the information to my father. Of course, the info was obtained "old school", meaning family stories and research done by hand.
Have a great day!

Thanks for contacting me. I checked online and the headstone photo is showing for Pearl Kerns. Can you check again to see if the link is broken? If so, I'll see if I can take the photo down and try to reload it.
