RE: Eddie Benevich
Thank you for being so patient. I was finally able to get into the mausoleum but there is a slight issue. Eddie and Betty Benevich's Niche is very high and behind old faded glass too. We found a chair to stand on and my son took quite a few pictures in hopes that we can be successful in getting one that will come out legible. Dottie

Did you get the request I send to your address? If not, I can resend it through here, or try to find another way.
Thank you so much. Peggy Coffman

Can you tell me if Robert Grogan is buried in the cemetery in the Town of Stoneville or out of town. Thanks Bill Knight

Benjamin Scudder Lamb
I know you leave a lot of flowers on memorials. However, I noted that in a message with a flower for Benjamin Scudder Lamb 1782-1856 you called him "cousin." Can you please tell me of any relationship that you have to Benjamin Scudder Lamb? I am still seeking information about him and his family.

Thank you for responding,

Thank You!
Today I was looking at the memorial of my cousin, Leonard Walker Shelby and from what I read he is also your cousin. I see your name and remarks you posted on many of my memorial and I just want to thank you for doing this.

Eddie Benevich
Hi Carolyn,
I apologize for the delay, but the mausoleum that contains Mr. Benevich's crypt has been closed due to earthquake retrofitting! I checked there again today and the Cemetery Operations Superintendent said that it should be finished in about two more weeks.
The request you put in is going to expire, but don't worry; I'm going to reject this request and when the mausoleum re-opens, I'll simply upload the picture to the memorial independently. You don't even have to re-submit a request, because it might be a little longer than the two weeks that Find A Grave holds a request. My parents are at this cemetery, so it's not out of my way at all and I certainly don't mind doing it. So you're going to get a rejection, just ignore it and trust me that it will get done. Dottie

Daniel Long
I saw your name on Daniel Long's memorial page. I am also related. I am related from his son James H. Long. My great grandmother was Columbia Long of Lauderdale County Alabama. Her father was Daniel W. Long, also of Lauderdale County.

Col. John Van Valkenburg
Thanks for remembering Colonel John Van Valkenburg of the 20th Indiana Volunteers, especially on Memorial Day.He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, AL.
I know what you mean about trying to get "the rest of the story." I've found some great ones. Can you imagine what it was like to come to a Southern town after the War and try to help it rebuild? (He was a hardware merchant.) Sons and daughters married Southern spouses and much of the family history just wasn't talked about. So I go digging! I love it!

Martha Wade
I hope you don't mind, but I had this pic of Martha Wade's headstone on my computer that I took 01/09/13, so I uploaded it. I had updated James's Headstone but I don't know why I didn't upload Martha's. Brain leak. Anyway, I didn't claim your request, so I sent a public message to 'danni' the one who claimed it, to let her know. The weather is bad here so I thought it would take a while for her to get a good pic. I can delete mine if you want, just let me know. thanks, ~Bill

OK, I did as ordered. :-]
I will transfer her to you if you like. You are a whole lot closer related to her than I am. I am sure I am related to her somehow, back there through Adam and Eve somewhere along the line.

Jourden Jeremiah Findley
As I was working on my family tree just now, I noticed for the first time that you've left 3 different memorials on the page for Corp Jourden Jeremiah Findley. Are you perhaps related to him, or know someone who is? I ask because he is either a 2g or 3g uncle to me, (I forget which off the top of my head), being the brother of my 2g grandfather.

I've run into a bit of a brick wall with Jourden - I can find names on his wife & 4 children, but nothing else. Not even where the others are buried. Any info you have and are willing to share would be most appreciated.

This is a general view of the current Section 43.

The exact section and block where this person was buried is no longer possible to photograph. In the late 1920s and into the 1930s Elmwood provided free graves for families that could not afford burials (so there were no grave markers). You had 30 years to "claim" your family member and rebury them in a regular grave plot.

Almost no one was claimed and reburied. So after 30 years they brought in more dirt and created new graves for purchase over the free graves. The section was given new lot and grave numbers that do not correspond to the old block and grave numbers. Therefore it will never be possible to provide anything other than general photographs of the current section.

photo requests
I was at Shiloh Methodist Cemetery in Shiloh, Tennessee today. I searched for William Harmon and Roberta Flack's marker but was unable to locate them. I will be back in a few weeks and give it another try. I was a little pushed for time today and it was raining as well.
