Hi Misty, I was wondering--I saw your note about not having been able to go out there yet to take this photo--I have made it out earlier and I happened upon his name and took the photo.
Do you still want to go out Monday and take the photo yourself? Or, let me fill it for you?
Either way is fine. Just let me know. Sue

The names on the memorial are as they appear in the Washington State Digital Archives Online Records. I don't know where you got your record from maybe Family Search. I don't change the record but I did put a note on the memorial that the names are spelled as in the online record. If you have links for his parent then his mothers name will show correctly.

Bill Norman
Walter Cornelius Dale
Hi Misty,
I am writing to you about Walter Cornelius Dale #13312263. On his memorial you state that his granddaughter is making payments for a headstone. My research shows that Walter enlisted in the U.S. Army at Spokane on December 5, 1942. If this is accurate and a family member has access to his military records, then you should be able to apply for a military grave marker if you wish to. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Mary E. Gilbreth 1912
A photo of Mary is available if you are interested. It can be found in "As I Remember" the memoir of Lillian Gilbreth.

I'm not sure if copyright protocol prohibits my scanning and sending you the photo - let me know what you think. I would be happy to if it seems possible.

I took the photos from my car as I was driving by. I never saw the back. Post one if you have it. I have no problem with you doing so.

unreadable stones
Hi Misty, I've read some about various ways to get an impression of difficult/unreadable stones. I would like to hear, from you, all the ways and pros and cons of doing them. How to do them. why some ways are preferred over others--like yours-no shaving cream. Just please enlighten me as I will be going out to Riverside shortly I hope and looking for a marker that is supposed to be very difficult to read. Thanks Sue
Oh, please email me at

Hi Misty- There were three other Stapletons at High Forest cemetery: Denise (Dec. 7-20, 1964); Eben (May 18, 1889-April 27, 1976); and Eben's wife Myrtle (Feb. 19, 1899-June 4, 1989). If they are part of your family and you would like to add their memorials, I would be happy to upload the photos I took of their markers. Have a great summer- Chris

RE: Weetman
That was surprising that someone else posted those two photos when we had so recently talked about them. I guess with the great weather lots of people are out photographing.

RE: John Acorn
Oh wow... I wish I remembered. I walked all of Mountain View photographing any stone or marker that looked like it had been put in since I photographed in 2009. I THINK he was in the far back section on the right but I am really not 100% sure. (That would be the high school side of the urn wall)
