|DJB||Re: your grandfather George J. Matas|
Hi Heather ~ I see on Find A Grave you have a memorial for your grandfather, George J. Matas #49492565 @ Harbor Lawn Cemetery, Costa Mesa, CA. I am not related but was curious abt him since he is buried in the Veterans section and came across some paperwork regarding his immigration and naturalization. Was wondering if you have that info already?? Cheers - DJB

Mattie is buried in Modesto Citizen's Cemetery. This cemetery is next to Acacia. There are 5 cemeteries side by side. I have posted her marker on both her memorials. Ed Smith put all the cemeteries on find a grave that were listed online. He is great to work with.
The photo is not great, I had to dig it out the marker was covered with dirt and grass.

Thank you for taking the beautiful headstone photos of Josephine Mary Callahan Alman and Maxwell Alman at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. The photo of Maxwell's stone looks surreal with the dark deep blue sky. I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to do this for me. They were the parents of my aunt Shirley Alman Duncan.

You're welcome. I just got through reading the forum thread re: your search for your uncle John. I wish you good luck with that. It looks like you have quite a few volunteers, both here and in Illinois, working on this. God bless them, I can't believe what they have come up with so far. It is truly amazing.

I went last month to photograph markers at El Camino Memorial Park and found this man's memorial.
It is located in a mausoleum, and there are a couple of problems.
The urn (I believe) is about 7 to 8 feet off the ground. I was going to take a step-ladder and approach when the area was empty, as it seems a bit weird to bring a ladder along.
It is in shadow in the afternoon, so don't think the printing on the memorial will show unless you get there earlier.
And it is behind glass, so reflection may be an issue.
His mother's urn/marker was photographed and is on the website (they are together), and the photo doesn't reveal much. You might want to do the family a favor and get a better 'shot' of hers also.

Hi Heather. I am about to fulfill your request for Gary and just wanted to let you know that I could not find Frank and Ogda. I got the location over the phone, but I was unable to go yesterday. I went today and of course, the office was closed. I looked for quite awhile in the general area where they are supposed to be, without luck. I will need to go back Saturday the 27th when there are employees that can help me.

Are you referring to Frank and Ogda, the ones you now have photo requests for? They are not buried near Gary, as I have my handwritten transcription notes that are in order by row. I will ask at the office on Saturday for the locations. I have made the links you requested, but I am going to transfer Gary to you, as you are family and I am not. I added the info you wanted in the bio, but I included your name. Feel free to edit it in any way you see fit. Watch for my messages on Saturday evening!

Wow I just read your "note" on this photo request. How tragic for your grandfather's family to lose a loved one that way. I created the memorials in Roosevelt from walking through and transcribing. I am happy to go and get the photo for you. It will probably get done Saturday.
