Carl:

I found a Michigan marriage record for Fred Leroy Coe and a Rose B.(Beatrice) Shepard 01 Jan 1909. Listed as his parents were CP Coe and Mary Tice.

RE: Frederick LeRoy Coe
Mr. Coe: The other person who was suggested to be his mother was married to another person(Gresham & Matilda Woods). She also was born in 1819 and died in 1875 I think. Even if she did not die then, she would have been 61 years old in 1880! Might Frederick have been adopted? Perhaps the only way to solve the mystery would be to get a copy of his death certificate and see if his parents are listed on it.

Frederick LeRoy Coe
Dear Sir:

Some time ago, I believe that you sent an edit stating that Mr. Coe's parents were Hollis and Hannah Woods Coe. That is what I had noted on his memorial located at Circle Cemetery, Steuben Co IN. If I am correct, then you may wish to know the following. Someone else recently sent me an edit to link his memorial to his parents. He sent a different name for the mother (he is incorrect). So I began to research. I cannot find any evidence that Hannah & Hollis were Mr. Coe's parents. In fact, I find evidence to the contrary. In the 1900 census, it states that Hannah had given birth to 3 children. Names were Helen, Mary or Mamie (from 1880 census)and Clyde (1900 census)...born in 1875, 1878, July 1880. Fred was born Sept 1880. See the conflict?

If you have documentation to prove otherwise, please let me know. My goal is to know that whatever information is on a memorial I manage is correct. Please also know that I now check out all edits sent me and often will ask for documentation if I cannot locate myself.

Tried to verify a death date for Irma. If you know it could you put in edits on her new entry. I did find her birth to Henry Clay Coe and Catherine Kitty Catton. The 1900 census says her birth was Dec 1881. Her marriage was in 1907 to James W. Ansley. On 1930 census she was living with her sister Nell Dubois & it said she was a widow. But the 1940 census says she was divorced. No definitive documentation on her death date. One family tree said about 1965 and another said 1939 but she was on 1940 census. She did sail from San Fran to New York in 1933. One of those 2 census says she was a librarian at the county library.

Wow, I just entered this one a few hours ago after photographing yesterday! You're fast to find it! And you are right, it is confusing on the stone so I appreciate your input. I had the information from the stone ready to check things out on an ancestry search for documentation! They are in an older section where the roof has leaked so stone is a little discolored.

RE: John H. Coe
If he is the one in Kings, then he would be about my great, great grandparents age or siblings age, at the time. same area they came from. which would be Phillips line. Which could explain why he's buried there perhaps a close friend. If I had to guess, But still its really interesting.
