Would you consider transferring Gordon to me? He is one of my favorite uncles.

Thanks, Rita

After I sent you that note, I googled him and found a picture of the house referred to in the article - WOW! It is a beautiful home. The article about it was from 2014, so someone is still enjoying the lovely property.

Uzal McCarter #131662718
I like to read old newspapers (Library of Congress website) and try to match the stories and articles to memorials here on F-A-G. I found a little story in the Evening World (New York, NY) on 11/2/1916 about a home purchase by Uzal McCarter. I thought you might like to see it.

http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83030193/1916-11-02/ed-1/seq-12/

It is titled "Freedman's House Sold."

Edward Toy's memorials
I was saddened to read that Edward Toy had passed. He had created Find A Grave memorials for my 3xs Great Grandparents and one of their daughters in the Eden Valley Cemetery, Eden, NY. His work was appreciated very much.

I discovered his passing as I was in process of requesting that he transfer these 3 ancestors to me. Are you now managing Mr. Toy's work? If so,
would you, please, transfer the following to me?
Augustus Bentley #73326341
Thankful Bentley #73326306
Betsey Bentley #73326381

If you do not manage these, do you know how I request a transfer?
Thank You, Cathy Zabel #47750547

Ern,

I SAW that listing, and I ignored it because I thought it was about someone else (Grant?) Anyway, I am glad you figured it out! I don't think there is supposed to be a third "e" at the end of DEWEES. DEWEES is how I got it for her and for her daughter. Thank you so much for creating the memorial.

You're the best! I would love to see the death certificate. We didn't think we were related because of the dob and the wife. My great grandmothers new husband died before I was born so it's hard to get family input. Thanks again

He wasn't in the war. Philip (my grandmother's father...she's still alive-Rachel) is the next to the youngest son of Patsy Alexander. His wife, Mayme Alexander is also laid to rest at Eastern. He is also the great uncle to Muhammad Ali. Cashus Clay, his (Ali's) father is the grandson to Patsy Alexander.

The Kanes
I see that you sponsored Norman Kane's memorial. Are you family? I would be glad to transfer the memorial to you, as I am not family and like to see family managing memorials.

I took a new photo of Michal's memorial and can add to or replace the current photo. I tried to take a photo of the Book Barn but the day was too leafy (!) and the camera was not up to unsophisticated to get details.

I live down Shenkel a piece and visited the Book Barn years ago. today, as you know, the property has changed hands but is maintained beautifully. I believe they're restoring the home as well.

RE: Marvin J Besteman
No worries...the bio I have is short for Marvin J Besteman.

Mr. Besteman attended the University of MI where he played hockey for a short time. He married his wife Ruth in 1958 and had four children. Their son William passed away only days after his birth. He made his living as a bank president and then retired to Florida for the winter months. He is a published author "My Journey to Heaven, with Lorilee Cracker. A story of a near death experience he had in 2912. He enjoyed golfing and travel.

This is about all I know, so I'll leave it up to you how much you want to add.

I think that he was cremated at that cemetery, but obviously the ashes aren't there.

Reply: I agree with that thinking.

I would love to take over the management of Marvin's memorial such as adding a short biography. Would you be willing to transfer it to me? Or I would be happy to send you a short bio. so you could add it yourself if you so desire.

Thank You,

RE: Donald Ross
I have submitted a bio for his brother Alex too.

There were 3 memorials for Alex. A Bu, this cemetery one in Miami and one stating he was cremated with ashes scattered on a golf in MI. The 3 memorials were merged into the cemetery memorial with the bio from the cremated memorial.

Last week I phoned the cemetery in Miami and yes, there is an Alexander M. Ross but the dates are wrong.

Theirs was born in the 1890's and died in 1958 so I don't believe that the golfer is buried in Miami.

Big Ern,

There is another memorial for Walter Clarence Withrow that is married to Norma LaVerne Cusick in Oak Grove Cemetery with a monument (Find A Grave Memorial# 159256282). Not sure if you want/need to delete your Walter C. Withrow.

Cordially,

Scott E. Dunfee

Thank you for making the edits to William Horwitz, Jr's memorial. I had gone back to add a few things on my family tree for his granddaughter this past week, and ended up spending days on Mr. Howritz. Interesting journey.

Thank you again for making the edits.

God Bless,
