RE: Josiah Woodard Photo

Thank you so much for the additional information on these graves. Both of my mother's parents and both of my father's grandparents came to Oklahoma from Indiana. My sister and I hope to some day make the trip and walk through the many cemeteries where we have ancestors buried. The sort of information you provided will be invaluable if we are able to do so. Thanks again.

The Luke Woodard you spoke of was my third great uncle. Which would make us some type of cousins. I am a direct descendant of his father who was also a Luke Woodard.

Thanks very much for the photograph of the Josiah Woodard grave marker. It looked like a recent addition to the plot?

RE: Heaton Cemetery
Hello again,
I just called my neighbor who has family in Heaton Cemetery. The Stewartd family are her people. i believe Isabelle Breckenridge Stewart and Robert Stewart are her 3rd or 4th great-grandparents. She was thrilled to hear that the cemetery has been cleaned up. We're planning a trip down to Rush Co. later this Fall when the weather is cooler.

Thanks again for your hard work!

Thank you so much for letting me know this. Hopefully, one of these days my friend and I can get back down to Rush Co. and check it all out. My hubby has cousins in Rushville, and my daughter married a man from Connersville, so some of the family is down that way often.

Thanks for your hard work!

I've added my photos and links with the original memorial for him. The member that created his memorial has moved it to the correct cemetery. It's nice when everyone cooperates to make things better.

Don Cordell
RE: Gardiner cedar markers at Salem
Back in 1972 or 73 the markers for Eliab and Sarah listed their lineage back to Nantucket, for instance Eliab, to Richard, to Solomon, to Ricard to Richard, to Thomas Gardner. Same for Sarah. The boards still exist, just inside the gate on the east side of the cemetery. I know what they say, but now just not readable. So someone must have carved these and placed them there within a year or two before 1972. Unfortunately I was just starting genealogy, and came with out a camera. By the time I got back it was 1997. Shame. But then I know what they said, and could repeat this. It's a shame we can't replace those with a marble plaque. They had quite a life, from Nantucket, to Guilford Co, to Indiana. I was just commenting to a friend that even when my grandfather was born in 1873, and lived to 1957 the huge changes he saw in his lifetime. From Cooking in the fireplace, to microwave ovens. From candles to electric lights. From horses to horsepower corvetes. I've seen a lot too, but not on that level. Of course when I was building receivers for the Deep Space network for the Goldstone Tracking Station in the Mohave Desert in 1962 that was exciting too. I admire the struggles our ancestors met, it's too bad our children are not interested yet. I try to share with my kids, but they can't quit relate, since they are my adopted children. Thanks for the email. Your cousin, Don Cordell

Jericho Cemeteries
Happy Easter

Thanks for taking the time to notify me of your findings on the Old Jericho vs (new) Jericho burials. Church records that I accessed did not reflect the difference between the locations.

If you could let me know if you found markers for the burials in the (new) Jericho cemetery.

Keep up the good work.
