Cunningham at Buchanan
Jenny, do you know if they are buried elsewhere perhaps? I just found a record for a Jane at Buchanan that gives in 50th year which would mean she is not the same person.

Miller-Snell
Hi, thanks for quick response. William R. Gibson who died in 1940, death certificate gives Snell Cemetery. I notice there happen to be Millers and Snells in that Miller Cemetery. I will contact them and if one in same cemetery, then findagrave can combine them. thanks.

Heavner Cemetery inquiry
Hello Jenny, I see you have photographed this cemetery and since I am not from WV wonder if you have ever heard of Miller-Snell or Snell Cemetery?
This Snell cemetery name appears on death certificate and on findagrave I found only one name listed which makes me think that perhaps this cemetery goes by another name or names now. If you have any info you might share would be greatly appreciated. I have searched it online with no success. thanks for any assistance!

RE: Hattie Swartz
Hi Jenny,

I didn't realize that there were duplicates involved. I will go ahead and link her page to the original parent pages.

Thanks

Bobbie
Crow Family Cemetery
Hi Jenny,
Thank you SO much for taking these pictures. I tried to get pictures in 2007, but the present owner of the property would not give me access.
I am a direct descendent of Peter Crow and Susanna Earlwine. They are my great, great grandparents via Emanuel Francis and Sabra Crow, Edward B Francis and Nancy Brown and my grandmother Martha Ellen Francis Riggs, and mom, Mary Jane Riggs McClure.
I'm new to this and have only just begun and have a long way to go with everyone!
I am trying to site information and I will site you on my ancestry.com public tree, (Roberta McClure Long Family Tree), I hope that is ok with you. Feel free to look, I am in the process of posting information and photographs that go back to the late 1800's.
I have two photographs that my mother took of the Crow Family Cemetery in about 1965? I will post them too.
At that time there was a Revolutionary Soldier plaque in front of Peter Crow's headstone.
There were also some newer, rather large headstones at the gravesite. I wish I had more pictures that names could be identified on them. Was there any evidence of them there when you were there?
I also remember a crew of prisoners from the Penitentiary in Moundsville cleaned the cemetery up and reset gravestones sometime in the 1960's. I wonder if they have photographs.
The farm, was My uncle, (by marriage) Lester Coffield's, but it was originally one of the Francis/Riggs farms. My uncle was married to my aunt, Wilma Elizabeth Riggs Coffield.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you again!
Bobbie Long

RE: Jacob Crow unknown
Jenny: Thank you for getting back so soon. Peter & Susanna Earlewine Crow are my direct lines. I tried to see if this Jacob Crow would match anyone in my tree, but alas, it does not. Did I send you what I thought Jacob Crow's stone read? I can see it does read Jacob Crow and that he died Jan [maybe] 15 180_ [maybe]. Maybe if someone is going out that way again, they could use colored chalk to bring out the letters on the stone and we could find out what the stone reads. I'd like to find out.
Thanks, Shirley :)

Jacob Crow unknown
Hi. I saw the photo of the tombstone you put on Find A Grave for Jacob Crow Memorial #19654649 and wondered if you have any information to what branch he 'might be' related to. The stone looks like it reads: Jacob Crow Died Jan 15, 180_. I have several Jacob Crows in my tree.
Thanks Shirley :)

Hi,

Thank you so very much.

I know you will enjoy DAR. It is a very worthwhile organization.

To learn more about DAR, go to www.DAR.org and look at the information about the schools that DAR has built, etc... We, as members, help maintain those schools. DAR built schools in locations that would ordinarily NOT have schools. We promote education, preserve history and promote patriotism.

Best Wishes,
Brenda

Hi Jenny,

If you need any help signing up for DAR, just let me know.

Mind if I ask who the Patriot is that your mother used? Am wondering if it's any chance the lady I am helping might be able to use that Patriot.

THANK YOU for everything.

Brenda

Hi Jenny,

Thank you for your most quick reply. I am working on an application for a lady here in Cedar Rapids, that descends from Henry and Margaret.

If I get her application completed and approved, do you have any interest in joining DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution)?

I'd be happy to help you join.

Henry Swartz / Margaret Doren
Hi,

By any chance, do you have any personal knowledge of Henry Swartz, born ca 1805 PA and his wife, Margaret Dorn / Doren born ca 1810 PA?

They are the parents of Conrad Swartz who is buried in the Dinsdale, Tama Co, Iowa cemetery.

Thank you,

Louis Wegener
Kossuth Co (IA) Advance
May 29, 1941

Louis Wegener, Algona resident since 1913, died Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at his home here from complications from old age. He reached the age of 88 years, 11 months and 17 days, but had been bedfast only four weeks.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 1:30 at the home, and 2 o'clock at the local Trinity Lutheran church, with the Rev. P. J. Braner, pastor, officiating. Burial will be made in the Lutheran cemetery at Fairville.
Mr. Wegener was a former members of the Fairville Lutheran church, and recently he donated iron gates to the cemetery there. A coincidence is the fact that his body will be the first to be carried through the new gates.
Mr. Wegener was born June 1, 1852, at Abbensen, Province of Hannover, Germany, and he was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich Wegener. His mother was Sophie Lohmeier, before her
marriage. He was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran church at Herschdorf,
Germany.
In 1868 Mr. Wegener emigrated to America on the passenger ship "Herman", landing in New York after a trip of 16 days.
Mr. Wegener resided first at Elmhurst, Ill., but in 1874 moved to Black Hawk county, Iowa. On
June 7, 1877 he was married to Wilhelmine Faust, of near Waterloo, and in 1878 they moved to a farm in Palo Alto county, where they farmed till 1913, when they retired and came to Algona.
Mr. Wegener is survived by his wife, four sons—Henry, Tacoma, Wash.; Fred Swea City; Robert,
Whittemore; and William, Clinton—and three daughters; Mrs. Anna Bierstedt, Burt; Mrs. Mary
Warner, Fenton; Mrs. Rose Sigsbee, Fort Dodge. There are 26 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Robert Wegener Biography
Hi Jenny,

I am Robert and Tillie Wegener's grandson. The biography you have of my grandfather is not correct. He is the son of Louis and Minnie Faust Wegener. Mary Eva Faust was Minnie Wegeners mother not Roberts Mother. Ottlie Augusta died in 1918 and not 1919 as you say.

Your Version

Robert was the son of Louis & Mary Eva Faust Wegener. He married Ottilie Augusta Wehrspann in 1914. After her death in 1919, he married Ottilie Sophia Baas in 1919.

Corrected Version:

Robert was the son of Louis & Minnie Faust Wegener. He married Ottilie Augusta Wehrspann in 1914. After her death in 1918, he married Ottilie Sophia Hermine Baas in 1919.

Just thought I would make you aware of this. Thank you. Duane Matheson
