Why does her husband's obituary say her name was Lilly Zimmerman? Is that a surname of a previous husband?

This is my GGG Grandma. According to the research that I have been doing, the photos that you have posted to her memorial are actually photos of her son, Ephraim Fletcher Crawford and his family and wife Mary Phedelia Watters Crawford. Thanks for making memorials so nice! I try to do a good job, too.

Thanks, Carl for your findagrave memorials! You may want to know I have a site up for these pioneers. I am William's great grandson through Maria Louisa Pickett. It is remarkable how closely my grandfather resembles him. He has an interesting history! You are welcome to add anything from the site. I think you may have found the photo there, but Louisa Avelina's photo is also on the site. You are also welcome to cite their link if you wish. Received this note and asking you to add the obit to your memorial. I've deleted mine, since the burial information was wrong on mine (according to the obit). Thanks

I was looking at the list of cemeteries in Lyon County, Kansas and noticed a submission or listing by you of a person being buried in the Welsh Cemetery. It is Find A Grave Memorial# 12537004, Roberta P. Lewis.
I have never heard of the Welsh Cemetery by name but am aware there was a Welsh population in the Emporia, Lyon County, Kansas area at one time.
I did a search on the name Roberta Lewis in cemeteries in Lyon County, Kansas and found another submission Find A Grave Memorial# 30861243 for Roberta Palmquist Lewis. This submission lists the location of burial being the Evergreen Cemetery. There is also a partial photograph of the tombstone with her name.
Your submission has more information for Mrs. Lewis. If you wish, you might look into the other submission and see if they are one and the same person and then link if possible.

Samuel Lance/Lanz - not buried in Nauvoo
The Old Nauvoo Burial Grounds picture accompanying the memorial of Samuel Lance/Lanz #31628523 should really be removed as Samuel did not die in Nauvoo. Several family records list him as buried there simply because people didn't know what really happened to him. Samuel is my great-great-grandfather. I've done extensive research on the Lance family and on Samuel. If you will read the information I've had added to his memorial you will see that he left Nauvoo in 1846, sometime after February 6, 1846, when he attended the Nauvoo Temple. Several people have assumed he died in Nauvoo in 1855, which is totally inaccurate as you can see when you read the information.
Your picture is beautiful - it would be wonderful to have a picture of Samuel's headstone or burial place, but there isn't one.
Thank you, Edna W. Stratford

I read your bio and all I can say is DITTO. I have your passion, as well, but I have to wait a little longer before I can retire. waaahhh

Thanks,

Ship Brooklyn Pioneers
Carl,

Could you please add Isaac Rogers Robbins (http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSsr=41&GSvcid=286156&GRid=36574015) and Mary Ann Shinn Burtis Robbins (http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=12580431) to your Ship Brooklyn Pioneers virtual cemetery? Isaac was my third great grandfather. The three children linked from Mary Ann's memorial were also passengers on the ship and could be added as well.

Purported Byington family photo
Thank you for your reply and for removing the purported Joseph H. Byington family photo from his memorial page. I am in the process of writing an article about the misidentified photo and having it published in a Western U.S. history journal so we can attempt to put an end to this controversy.

Joseph Henry Byington pioneer photo
Hello,

I am a 2g grandson of Joseph Henry Byington through his 2nd wife Hannah Molland and their daughter Hannah Maria Byington Burrup. I noticed that you have added a photo to Joseph's memorial page showing a man, two women, and some children posed in front of covered wagons.

This now "famous" photo was published on the front cover of the August 1986 issue of National Geographic. The magazine editors asked readers to identify the unidentified image. According to correspondence I have had with the magazine's editors and others, dozens of unrelated people have made competing claims regarding the image's identity. One of my distant cousins insists that it is the Joseph H. Byington family, despite the fact that her research and conclusions are full of errors and leaps of logic. Regardless of that situation, she has widely distributed and published the image in an effort to legitimize her claim.

Please feel free to contact me for further information.

I would appreciate it greatly if you would kindly remove this unidentified and unsubstantiated photo from my great great grandfather's memorial page. It is a wonderful image, but its identity, photographer, date, and location are still unknown, and it is a disservice to historians, genealogists, and Byington family members to represent it as something it is not.

Respectfully yours,

Jay G. Burrup
