RE: Clarence L. Satterwhite, OK
Related? Yes ... but VERY distantly & on a different limb of the Satterwhite tree.

I didn't even know enough about him to get his given name right.

RE: Vance's in Burt Cem. and other
You are welcome. Linda passed these memorials to me when her health started to get bad. All she ever wanted was to get the correct information on the memorials and in the care of family members when possible. If you find other family members, let me know. I don't always go by the same rule as Find A Grave. If they are related, they are related.

The Crary family
Hi WVY,
Sorry, I have not gone back to Sugartown Cemetery.
But, I have found online The Cattaraugus county Republican news that dates from 1844-1853, but by the 1850's, not too much BMD's in it.

Found this & wondered if you might know his parents?

9/2/1844:
Dr Spencer Crary, age 34 years died in Fairfield, Jefferson County, Iowa
(I figure he was born in 1810-1844)
I have added him to the Fairfield cemetery, in Fairfield, Jefferson county, Iowa

Please check the Crary's again in Sugartown Cemetery, as I have added items from the newspaper.

Also Jane, youngest daughter of Dr Augustus Crary died after child birth in 3/23/1848 She was the wife of George Nelson. I have not found George Nelson. I will have to check my photos that i took to see if he was there or not?

Any information that you can find would be very helpful !!

Sincerely, Laurie # 47375347

I'll sure look for her. May be next week before I get back to McGee. Trying to get the swimming pool cleared up. Dead algae on the surface makes it look like I threw in a box of Tide.

RE: Frederick Fonville, NC
I'm glad I had the picture for you. My husband and I just went to the cemetery two days ago. It is the first time I've been there since 1962 when my grandmother was buried. I have several family members buried there. Elder Fredrick Fonville is my great-great grandfather. He deeded the land for the cemetery and a meeting house to three members of his congregation. I have a copy of the original, handwritten deed and a transcription of it. My grandfather, Earl Fonville, bought the wrought fencing that goes around the cemetery. I have a copy of the bill of sale for that, too. As a child, I remember the cemetery as an open field surrounded by the fencing. Now it is overgrown with pine trees. Many of the older stones have deteariated and the inscriptions are hard to read.

What is your connection to the Fonville's? Please let me know if I can help further.

Jim
Duniphin
Hi,
I got access to ANOTHER list of burials in Fairview cemetery and it DOES list D.B. Duniphan and Mrs N.J. Duniphan. It has the dates for N.J., but has no dates listed for D.B.
My personal records are based on my walking the cemetery in 2005 and photgraphing headstones. He very well could be there without a headstone. You might contact Tuttle City Hall, since they should have the records.

This is a very large cemetery. I just walked around and took some of the stones. You could call and ask if his parents are in this cemetery. Only 1253 listed but I would say maybe over 15000 or more in this one.

Hi, there is a bush growing right next to the stone. My husband was able to hold branches out of the way for me to photograph the inscription. My memory could be faulty, but I don't recall another inscription on the stone. Seems to me we would have photographed it at the time....seeing as how I had a branch holder with me :) Jenean

RE: Ebenezer/Mary J Eaton, ME
With the weather we get in Maine, it's amazing some of the stones have lasted as long as they have. Oak Hill in particular, has a problem with vandalism - you might have notice the stones for both Eatons are laying flat on the ground. Thank goodness they're face up - a lot aren't. :(

Transfers done. Best of luck with your project, let me know if I can help in any way.

I'd really rather transfer them and let you add the info. I still have over 1,000 photos to do for just this cemetery and I think my time is better spent doing that. I haven't seen Mehitable F. Eaton, yet though - will let you know if I stumble upon her.
Ok to transfer to you?

Otis Cemetery in New Hampshire
Hello, I noticed that you added some memorials to Otis Cemetery. I have tried to find the location of that cemetery but no luck. Do you know what cross roads are near it? Or are there any web sties that might list it or have any photos of it? I am a descendent of the Meserveys of New Hampshire and supposedly there are a lot of my family members buried in Otis Cemetery.
Any information will be appreciated.

RE: Middletown Cemetery, Jefferson Co. KY
Yes, Ruth (Glass) Vance could be buried in Middletown Cemetery but I am not sure there is any record of it. I have about every book on cemeteries and haven't found her listed in any of them. One book listed her husband, Rev. James Vance, as being in an above ground vault. I took pictures of all the stones there and I see a vault at where the Vances' are buried, so it must be his. I did not put the picture on Find A Grave because I could not read the name. Perhaps if I look at it again knowing who is probably buried there I may be able to make out the name. I'll try to go by there in the next couple of days.

You may want to contact the City of Middletown. There maintain the cemetery and have the existing records for the cemetery. However, since Ruth died such a long time ago I am not sure they have records that far back. It might be worth a try.

RE: John Collins, King Cem. Henderson
Hi Winnie! I am at a loss. I walked King Cememtery again today and couldn't find a John Collins. I found his wife and her parents, the Carifees, but not John Collins. There does not even appear to be a place for John Collins to be buried by her, but one never knows. I talked to the caretaker again and he says he just doesn't know where John Collins could be because he doesn't have any record of him being buried there. I can only surmise that he is buried there but in an unmarked grave without a record on the caretaker's books. (odd not to have a marker for a veteran though).

I checked and there isn't another King Cemetery or Ali Cemetery in Henderson, Kaufman, or Van Zandt County.

I am so sorry we couldn't find him for you. If you get any more info or get any ideas, please let me know and we will take up the hunt again.

Again, my apologies for not being able to help you more.

Still looking for headstone. Still no luck. So frustrating to have documentation that he is buried there and can't find a headstone, especially as he is a Vet.

Don't give up.

RE: King or King(s) cemetery
I have been researching the cemeteries and there is only the one King(s) or Ali Cemetery in Henderson County. It has been pouring rain here off and on for two months. Some of the graves are completely under water. I will go out and look the cemetery over again and see if I can find him. Maybe Mr. Greenhaw is mistaken and I will find it on the fourth pass through the cemetery. It won't hurt to look again.
I'll keep you posted.

Tina Brown
Vance Cemetery
I saw where you inquired about a Vance Cemetery on someone else's page. I am not certain how many people know about a "hidden" cemetery in Vance. It is located in a wooded area just off Hwy 11 behind the bank. If you have the proper vehicle you can drive out to the area, but your best bet is to park at the bank and walk directly behind it to the woods. The graves and markers are not in the best shape, and I know that they were recently doing some clearing in the area, so hopefully someone is cleaning up the area. Hope this helps with your search.
