Will Snyder
BIG BOO BOO -Hope you read this
Hi, My name is Will Snyder and I am one of the Snyder/Snider clan. I have traveled to West Virginia and studied the family history for over 50 years. My gr gr gr gr grandfather was John Snider who lived in Crooked Run (near Fort Martin) and was captured and lived with the Indians when he was 10 years old before he was returned 10 years later. His son, David Snider, went to the Georgetown area and started the town of Snidersville (no longer exists) on Sniders Run Creek. He also started the Snider's Temple which is still standing. David Snider's son, Samuel B. Snider lived near Arnettsville on a farm on White Lick Run Creek just over the hill from what is the little community of Crown.

My problem is that I am seeing some odd things going on that do not seem to be accurate. This cemetery where Sam is buried is called the Snider Cemetery ( that's what the sign says on the outside gate) It was started by Samuel B. Snider when his family started dying in the 1840's. The graveyard was kept up for many years into the 20th century and the last I knew was managed by a Paul Snider of Morgantown. The cemetery IS NOT IN Morgantown as listed. It would be more accurately be listed as Crown or Arnettsville as the location .

Also somebody has added names to the David Snider Cemetery that I do not know if they are actually buried there. People seem to be guessing instead of really relying on the actual old records that are more accurate but often gone. I have noticed this is really a BIG PROBLEM on New Ancestry members are in such a hurry to add names to their family trees that they are not careful and not accurate. It is very frustrating for a guy like me that checks and re-checks and continually attempts to get to the solid facts rather than just carelessly relying on some things in print just because they are in print AND MANY TIMES are wrong.

You can contact me at

Perhaps we can correct this situation before it gets any more "inaccurate."

Thank you,

Will Snyder

Edward Hartley
sir, Edward Hartley, Masontown WV Community cemetery has the wrong photo, the Gravestone shown is of Drake Swindler not Edward Hartley.
Edward's gravesite is not exactly known. My grandmother Ava Hamilton Hartley told me in 1966 that the grave is on the roadside side of the large HARTLEY Monument. this monument was placed by Peter M Hartley.

Thank you for your time and work helping the rest of us who are far from West Virginia trying to find the graves of our ancestors! I have only been to Taylor County twice and was able to take a few photos at 3 cemeteries there, but I doubt that I will ever be able to go back. What is your policy about sharing these photos on other websites? My family tree is on and I would like to add a few of your headstone photos to the profiles on my tree, with your permission (and credit to you).

Photo Request
Hi Nathan,

I'm not really that familiar with West Virginia geography, so this may not be possible for you. I've had requests in for a very long time for the graves of the following:

George William Dadisman

& wife Martha "Mattie" Strother Dadisman

If you ever in that area of Wesley's Chapel in Taylor County, I would be eternally grateful. They were my great grandparents.

Best Regards,
Donna Summers

duplicate photos after merge
Please check this memorial:

It was merged with a duplicate. You had added your photos to both the original and the duplicate. Thus, when they were merged, your photos are now in duplicate. Would you please consider going to that link and deleting your photos that are duplicates?

Thank you!

Madaline Pauline Barcus
If you are not related to Madaline Pauline Barcus #40490117 would you consider transferring her to my care? She is my great-grandmother.

Thank you,

RE: John Peyton Byrne, Maplewood
Nathan, There are two John Byrne's in Maplewood; one 86455640 is a duplicate that needs to be deleted. I didn't realize the duplicate dilemma when I recently requested photos for John Peyton's memorial 72705102. I need to contact the contributor and have a couple of the duplicate photos removed (must have been a slow Find A Grave response time). I am wondering if you would then add your group photo or photos to Pam Witherow's 72705102 memorial. I can then request deletion of the duplicate. Thanks in advance and hope that makes sense.

picture of cemetery for Mt. Morris
I attempted to add pictures of the stones for Scott Shroyer, buried at Mt Morris Cemetery. They are not showing up and I tried to research FindAGrave's help questions, but can't find an answer to my problem. Instead beneath the picture of the cemetery, it says "Don't show cemetery photo on this memorial." and I can't seem to get it to change to sllow my new pictures to be included. Since you entered this picture of the cemetery, thought maybe you can help. Sorry for the inconvenience. Bobbie Shay
