Pix Of Francis Stantons Gravesite
In numerous travels to Yuma, and a history fan, I was always intrigued by the lone solitary grave on the flood plain below Ft Yuma. I searched for info on the Francis Stanton buried there but never was able to find any until I happened on the posting in Find a Grave. Mystery solved! Too bad the Yuma Historical Society hasn't published anything on the site or info on who's buried there. I have a couple pix I can send of the site in addition to what you already have. Let me know:

RE: Scott family photos
I don't have any information concerning Thomas and John Scott, however, I did look back at my original photos and can tell you that they are not buried near each other. Thomas is buried amist the Titus family. Don't know if that means anything to you, but wanted to pass it along. Good luck.

I know you didn't ask for a transfer but I don't stand on the 4 generation rule. Better the memorial should be with family and when his parents' and children's graves are located, you will have a better chance of noticing that than I ever would.

I'm glad they found their family.

Goss Hill Road washed out on both ends in Hurricane Irene. Since it is closed in winter, who knows when/if it will be passable for vehicle traffic again given that it was barely passable to begin with.

RE: Rachel Sherwood
Hello and thank you for getting back to me so soon. My brother and sister-in-law told me about findagrave - I'm so glad it's been created. I enjoy technology, family history and photography so this is right up my alley. Once I've got my ancestors entered I want to be a photo volunteer. I may soon go back to Coley Cemetery and get a photo of John and Eunice's stones. Your information is very clear about where they are. The Coley Cemetery is sort of a lonely place and since I was by myself I didn't feel totally comfortable. Once I found the Sherwood stones I took the photos, paid my respects and left! Maybe when I go back for John and Eunice I'll take my dog :-) I'm a descendant of John and Eunice's son Samuel Sherwood Noyes. He has a 14 space family plot in New Canaan. I don't have much information about the other children of John and Eunice, except the son Benjamin who committed suicide by drowning in the Saugatuck River. So much investigating to do...
Thanks again - Tara Carlson

Your very welcome. I am sorry you couldn't find what you needed during your trip here. Keep up the hunt, when those seemingly elusive ones are found it is such elation.

Hi Shirley,

The Thomas Stanton number you gave me doesn't look like the right father. That Thomas was born in 1615 and Elijah was born in 1715. John

RE: Stantons in Green-Wood
That is an amazing gravesite. The tree's canopy falls to the ground like a circus tent. One can get very cozy under there. It is so dense and dark under the branches--I'm certain that even rain doesn't get through unless accompanied by high wind. It's a marveloous place to cool off during a long photo hike on a hot day.

Photos are up on Alexandrine's page.

Note the spelling of "Berier" on the stone.

Stantons in Green-Wood
I photographed the Stanton sstone in green-Wood today and thought you might be interested to know that there was, apparently, another daughtyer nameed Alexandrine, who died atr 23 in 1872. She'd have been born ca 1849, some years after the death of the first Alexandrine.

To quote the inscription:

"Alexandrine Stanton
Died Oct. 1, 1872
Aged 23 years"
