RE: Granville G. Jennings
No I am not related to this family, I am doing the genealogy of a very good friend of mine, and she is the one related. I had a hard time trying to figure the mystery out, with the dates and G.G. and Granville and who is the mother of each, but i got it figured out. If you would like the information i have i would love to share, email me at michellelrobb@gmail.com (my private email)

Granville G. Jennings
Hi Kim, This is just a note to let you know that the person you have listed as Granville G. Jennings is not, it is his half brother Gray Garrett Jennings. Granville's middle name is Crocket so it is Granville C. Jennings, and his mother was not Nancy. Ellis Jennings and Nancy Hartless did not marry until March of 1847. All the other information you have is correct for Gray Garrett, mother, father, wife, children and the dates. Took me quite a while to figure it out, kind of confusing. Thanks, Michelle Robb

picture added for Mt Washington
Is there any way you can remove the picture you added of the entrance of my grandparents Moreen and Marvin Tumlinson. I have another picture I want to add but can't due to that picture. Thank You
Added by Kim on Mar 30, 2014 12:10 PM

Hi Kim, there should be an active field that will remove the picture for that/those memorials. Usually it is located right under the cemetery picture.

McCandless
Kim, I have been to McCandless Cemetery and there are only 8 visible stones, of which I have posted. I see that you have a request for Ellis Jennings. Either there is no stone, or it is underground I would say. Just thought I'd let you know. "Each Day Counts", Loretta

Ellis Jennings
Kim, your photo request for Ellis Jennings in McCandless in Carroll County may never be filled. I was there today and there are only about 4 stones that you can read, and one of those has three names on it. (Only 4 or 5 stones standing in the whole cemetery. There are, however, a lot of sunken places. It's possible that a person might find some stones by prodding, but I did not have time for this today. Just thought I'd let you know that the chances are slim. "Each Day Counts", Loretta

DONNELLY
I found the Donnelly gravesite. If it wouldn't have been for James Charles being a military marker, I may not have found Susan Carnes Donnelly. The monument HAS NO NAMES ON IT except the last name and her name doesn't appear anywhere...she is MOTHER, with the same birth and death date that you had on your request. Hope it is what you wanted. Sorry it took me so long ro respond. They are posted on Find A Grave.

RE: Jonas Mendell
I'm going to call Debbie (Owner of the land) in the next day or two and talk to her about it. They told us we were always welcome to come back out. My husband and I are wanting to take some yard tools and cut down some of the brush that's grown up over some of the graves, dig out some of the sunken stones etc. We were talking that it's going to take a lot of money but I'm also going to just call around, and see what we need to do to get this old cemetery back in shape.
We'll need all the financial support we can get. I work part time and my husband is retired. I'm trying to go full time, but right now just thankful to have a job. I got laid off at Boeing in 2001 and haven't found another job that paid that much but God is always good and taking care of us... just don't have a lot extra like we use to.
I'll email you the other photos we took of some of the other graves so you can see how bad it is... Jonas' headstone was one of the better ones. There are a few ... maybe 4 or 5 that are better than his. My husband and I really want to try and do something for those folks buried there. We just hate the thought that they've been abandoned. We know that a lot of their loved ones have died too and their decendants don't know where they are and are searching for them ... like you. Hopefully this will help bring them and their decendants together.

Take care and God bless

RE: Jonas Mendell
You're so very welcome!!! We were glad to help!!!We're going to go back out to that cemetery and try to clean it up a bit. I'm going to call around and see if I can get donations to replace some of the stones and repair some of the others. Also to clean up the cemetery and maybe put a nice fence around it. It has barb wire around it now ... no gate. The lady that owns the place with her husband told me she's been wanting to do something to fix it back up but just didn't know how or what. I just hate the thought of those folks being forgotten and abandoned out there. It really saddens me.

Take care and God bless

We Made It!!!! FINALLY...
I posted a photo of the cemetery as well. We didn't get all the photos of the graves yet as I had hoped, it was pretty muddy, lots of holes in the ground etc so we're going to go back out when the ground isn't so soft and try to get more photos.

Jonas Mendell - Update
Welllll we were FINALLY able to go out there ... hadn't rain in a day or two but then yesterday got thunder storms but still went out today as it was fair weather.
I called the ranch foreman yesterday before I went to work to make sure it was OK ... he said it was wet but we could come on out .... YEA!!!!
WELLLLLL we drove allll the way out there today ... 46 miles one way, and the gate was locked! Tried to call him but no answer. We waited for 22 mins then decided we'd leave but drive slow in hopes he'd call me back and we could turn around and go back. We got all the way back home, and after we were home about 5 or 10 mins, he called ... said his bosses house was hit hard in the storm yesterday and he had to go over there to help out and to take them a generator. We made plans to try it again tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed!

Jonas Mendell update
Hi Kim,
It's still raining, been raining all week and suppose to rain everyday this next week with the exceptions of Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm hoping and praying it lets up and drys up long enough for us to make it out to get the photo for you as well as all the others in the same cemetery. I'm afraid we'll have to take a weed eater and cut the grass around each stone. They burned off all the dead grass for us a few weeks ago but it's been raining every day since! I'm also hoping to make it out BEFORE the rattle snakes start coming out!!! The owner of the land and her foreman both told me there were rattlesnakes out there and to wear boots.
I think its still too chilly right now though for the snakes to be out, however I have been seeing spiders and a few flies around soooo not sure.

Mary Gerstner photo request
This cemetery office has recently become uncooperative with giving out information and now requests $10 for each lookup that I request. This is not the case for people who call looking for family (they know I'm a volunteer) - so if you would please call them at 816-233-2526 to receive the lot info and then forward to me (or add to the memorial so it will show up on the photo request for all volunteers), I will gladly go for the picture.

RE: Jonas Mendell
My claim expired, but we will still go out and take the photos. I just hope someone else doesn't beat me to it after all the work I've done so far to find it. Were suppose to go out today ... again, but we got storms again last night and it's been raining all day today (April 26) as well with more storms. Suppose to rain all week!
The ranch foreman said the ground is real soft out there and don't want tire ruts in it ... I don't blame him, so will have to wait til it's dry. I told my husband, at least it should be green when we go out to make the photos pretty instead of sut from burning off the tall dead grass.
Please be patient, we'll get it done :o)
If you want to take off your request so that no one else claims it, it might help since it wont let me reclaim it.

Take care and God bless
