once again I am amazed by the obituaries and other info that you find. Charles' was wonderful. What a courageous man along with his fellow officers. I have a funny feeling that one of the men he found frozen to the mast is also buried at oakwood. A while back I came across a headstone with a ton of writing on it. It was extremely old and almost completely illegible. But I vaguely remember it said something about the sea. But bc I couldn't read the name I just payed my respects and moved on. But if you ever come across those peoples names and find out that they are in oakwood let me know bc I remember the area its in and should be able to locate it. As long as it wasnt destroyed this week during that freak rain storm.
But any way back to charles. Through the help of the obituary I was able to link him to two of his sons. I believe his wife, even though she wasn't mentioned, is ana bc she is buried bear him. Once again thank you sooo much :-)

I found Elnora's marker and took a picture of it. If you create a memorial for her, I will add the picture to it. She is buried next to S. Harry.

Yup, to your answer. The day I was at the cemetery I didn't have my camera and was trying to write down info from the headstones and so it looks like I read it wrong on the run. Thanks for noticing and letting me know.

All fixed. Thank you for getting it right and for alerting me to the problem in such a sweet, diplomatic fashion.

Typically I don't add obits that are more "recent" times, but figuring that this lady was in her 90's at the time of her death, I decided to go ahead a do it - there is a lot of historical information that I do believe that others would like to know about.

RE: God bless Fred
Thank you.
Almost contacted you this weekend to possibly meet. We had a Parks Family Reunion on Water Island (Fire Island) at the summer home of one of the descendants. The Parks had a first reunion at Cedar Point in 1913 to 1916.
A couple of people went to Cedar Grove Cemetery this morning to see their ancestors grave and I believe you live someplace nearby. As it was raining I decided to head home.

Hi! I am doing research on Rev. Edward Lord who is buried at Patchogue, L.I. Do you still have the original photo of his tombstone and if so, would you be willing to send me a copy by e-mail? Rev. Lord will be one of the men I examine in my book on the 110th Regiment and I will be most happy to give you a photo credit for this picture. Many thanks. Natalie J. Woodall, PhD

I've been working on the Rorke family for sometime for a high school friend and your work has filled many gaps.

Thank you very much.

Thank you so much for the additional information on Lorette Doxsee, That was great, it definitely answered my questions as to why she was buried with the Petty family. I don't remember seeing any other Doxsee's in that section though. However there are a lot of Doxsee's in that cemetery. Next week I will finally be able to get my computer fixed (I'm on my tablet right now) so once it's up and running I will try to locate her parents. I know I saw a william there, I checked the one that is already up here and I don't believe its her father. If her parents aren't there I was thinking they would be in either at st. Patrick or north babylon cemetery (since you mentioned she lived in babylon).
*check out ashbel Barto's headstone picture, she/he is located in my interesting headstone virtual cemetery. Tell me what you see.
talk to you soon :-)

Would you please transfer the above listed memorial? This lady was married to my second great grandfather. I was so pleased to see the information you have on this site. I have pictures I would like to add to the site.

RE: Herbert and Minnie Searles
uh oh, oops. I'll take a run to the cemetery this month and see if there has been any changes to her stone. if not then i'll delete her name from findagrave. I feel bad I should have paid more attention. I can't thank you enough for all of your help. talk to you soon.

RE: Herbert and Minnie Searles
Wow you are impressive!!!! I can't believe you did all that today. I made the edits, and I also added that the information I received was from you. I definitely wanted you to get the acknowledgement for all of your hard work. Did you buy any chance come across a date of death for their sons wife marjorie? I took pictures of all the headstones in section 5 last yr and posted them to findagrave. Thats how I even came across the searles family. When I was taking the pictures I originally thought that the family just never added her dod. It wasn't until recently that I realized that she was only born in 1920 and could possibly still be alive. I hate to ask if you know her possible dod bc you've already done so much, but if you do have it just send me a correction :) If you have any pictures that you need for memorials that you've set up just let me know. I know I've added a few for oakwood for you. Talk to you soon.

Leander P. Wood #94890913
Thank you so much for posting the additional information including Leander's death notice on his memorial. I knew "Lanny" died within a few years after his younger brother's death but I could not easily find any record of his date of death. I appreciate this little bit of my fiancÚ's family tree history that you have posted.

I've just re-visited some of my Darling family memorials that you have recently posted AND updated on my behalf. I wanted to thank you again for the extra effort of posting related research materials! They will go a long way in helping me to piece together this family and extend my family tree back another generation or two!

If I can return the favor with any cemetery and/or research in southern Maine or the nearby area, please do let me know.
