Bishop Smyth
Jesse, I found this article for Bishop Smyth and wasn't sure if you were interested in it. Cheryl

Dubuque Democratic Herald Jan. 1, 1864
The Extent of the Building
Done in 2863
List of the New Buildings Erected

During the season Bishop Smyth has built an elegant residence on Bluff Street, between Second and Third, next door to the Cathedral, at a cost of $9,000. It was designed and built by John Keenan. It is of brick, three stories high, 50 feet front, and 45 feet depth. It was commenced in May and finished in December. The cut stone work was done by Doner & Schulte, the plastering by John Tierney, the painting by T. P. Walsh, the stone work by Joseph Ryder, and the smith work by D. P. Lenehan. The iron work was finished by Wood & Perot, the fence as it stands alone costing over $1,000. It so is far completed that the Bishop already occupies it for his residence, though we believe more work yet remains to be done in the upper stories.

Joe McPoland's grave
I am Joesph McPoland's granddaughter and that isn't a picture of his grave. From where he and my grandmother are buried you can't see the river. Just thought you would like to know.

Linwood Cemetery
Way back in 2003, you took a photo of Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque County, Iowa, that overlooks the Mississippi River. Would it be a fair statement to guess that that cemetery has been underwater many times in the past?

Hello, i'm not sure if you check your messages, but I am looking to obtain from you the information that you used to make this memorial. This is my ancestor and I am looking for something concrete to verify the info on this Find A Grave page for this man.
Thank you,

Mrs Elizabeth A Allen Rice
The tombstone reads Mrs E A wife of Lucian Rice. Just curious how you came up with the name Allen-
her son, my 2nd great grandfather, has on his death
certificate that his mother's maiden name was Field.
This makes since because her son's name was George
Field Rice. Seems no one knows much about her-but
I keep digging in the Field family of Connecticut and Massachusetts-thank you so much for posting her

John B Loes
I am not sure if you can help. But I see you have John B Loes (1869-1909) with photo of his headstone posted at St Martins Cemetery, Cascade, IA. And I see another person, more recently, posted the same John B Loes and same headstone at St Marys Cemetery, Cascade, IA. My question is, are these cemeteries lying next to each other? Or maybe they have changed the name, and they are the same cemetery? Any help you may be able to provide is appreciated.

You have listed her but not William H who is on the same stone.
Is this her husband and does he have a Find A Grave number?

If not you might want to make separate listing for him using same headstone and connect them as husband and wife if this is correct.

It makes it a lot easier when searching if both have a separate listing.

Thank you
Bob Thomas

Bowen's Prairie updates
Hi Jesse -- Are you still active on Findagrave? I have sent several update requests for my family in Bowen's Prairie by way of SAC links and messages here within the last year, but nothing has happened. We have worked together several times in the past, so I hope you are OK! As you know, my goal is not to "own" every family member's memorial. I am just trying to get a few of them updated and linked up. For instance, my relative James Patterson's memorial has no birth or death dates on it so when people go to look for him, they don't find him because he has no dates and they don't know where he died. I do have all his dates and info, btw. Have sent them to you a few times, but no response. Is there some way I can reach you? Or if not, can you please just let me know if you are still active? I am happy to provide info to you by way of SAC, e-mail or whatever you prefer. I am also happy to take ownership of memorials to do updates if you want or I can make the updates and transfer them back to you. I am more than happy to do whatever you prefer : )

My family's memorials that still need updating in Bowen's Prairie cemetery are:

1. James R. Patterson - 6907945
2. Infant Hardesty - 6907811
3. Isadora Mathew - 6907892
4. Baby Mathew - 6907893
5. Rachel J. Rhynerson - 6907987

I also have updates for the other 9 Rhynerson memorials if you would like those as well.

I'm trying to help others looking for my family members, so would be grateful if you could either transfer these 5 memorials to me or let me know how to contact you for updates if you are still active on Findagrave.

Thank you very much!

The date on the headstone is actually his date of birth. According to the book (History and Genealogy of the Wetter-Miller-Schneider-Riedesel Families). The book has his DOB as Nov 14, 1796, but 1794 is correct if you calculate it from the death year of 1880 (about September) by the age at death on the headstone.

Bio for Bishop Leo Binz #7623898
Jesse - I am curious as to where you received your information in the bio on Archbishop Leo Binz. You have a statement saying that "It is believed that he was the first priest of the Rockford, Illinois Diocese to become a Bishop." Are you saying he was the first Bishop of Rockford, or are you saying that he is the first priest from Rockford to be the Bishop of Dubuque? I'm not quite sure what you are saying but he definitely was not the first Bishop of the Rockford Diocese, nor was he the first priest to become a Bishop outside of the Rockford Diocese. Please advise.
