|Marcia Hall||RE: Gold Rush Cherokees|
Hi, So many of us stem from Ludovic Grant and his Cherokee wife and Sister of Raven Moytoy. I have a large tree on Ancestry.com with histories. I have done the Union and Confed Cherokee etc. I have McDaniel/Ward on my tree as most Old settlers/Treaty Party married each other and a few married Ross supporters. I am a direct descendant of Chief Richard Fields, John Schrimsher/Mary Hughes and John Vann. Calaveras County has the best newsletter. There was an article on Sole Traders-state law that women could own their own businesses and 3 of the names were Nancy Ann Blythe Bean, Delilah Fields Scroggins and Eliza McCoy. I can email you the PDF of Schrimsher Cousins that my father and uncle completed. I have my father's extensive library and records. He is now 95 living in Oroville CA. Cousin Pat Meschling descended from Moses Fields, put together a lot of Find A Grave's info. She lives in Oregon.
Dad knew O.B. Campbell,the local historian in Vinita and wrote, with a cousin, some articles for the Vinita newspaper. I am a volunteer at the Gene Autry Western History museum in L.A.- fits my background. Currently we have Floral Journeys- Native Am beadwork- Martha Berry opened the exhibit-She brought back Cherokee traditional beading. We also have Route 66 and next is Civil War. I am baskets8 Hall Family Tree on Ancestry.

|Wes T.||GHORMLEY at Oak Grove Cemetery EDITS|
In case you were wondering, the source on those edits I have put in (mainly plot numbers) -- is the book "Our People And Where They Rest: A Visit to 104 Old Cemeteries in Eastern Oklahoma," James W. Tyner, Maxine Tyner and Alice Tyner Timmons, American Indian Institute, University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK. 1970-1985, (Library of Congress No. QE99-C5-T97) There wasn't a place for me to put that in the edit form.
Hope everything looked in order.
Thanks for all your help! Best wishes.

Hi Larry, thanks for getting back with me on this search for Avery Pickens and his family. Since sending you the message about them, Betty's burial site was located with the assist of a relative of her Austin family so I sent a message to one of the descendants researching the family. Of note, Betty's 1947 death certificate is not listed on the Tennessee Death Index for that year, very odd, it makes me wonder if she lived in another state at the time of her death. The obituary located listed no specifics or surviving family or what year her husband, Avery passed away. So the search continues. Warmly, Helen

Hi Larry, I see that you created a memorial for Cynthia Rebecca Lard Austin and uploaded some census & awesome photo images of her and several children. I am researching her daughter, Sarah Elizabeth "Betty" who married Avery Pickens on 30 Nov 1886 and bore several children. I last see her in the 1940 census as "Bettie", widowed, living with her son Owen, her daughter-in-law Evelyn and granddaughter Cynthia ~ noted in the Hardin,TN area. Do you know anything about her death information or that of Avery? I have been to the Archives Library in Nashville and have not found either one in the various databases. I'd love to connect with you regarding this family history. How are you related to them? Avery was the sibling to my GGG-Grandfather, John William Gabriel Pickens (1832-1899). Thanks and have a great day! Helen

|Annette Foster||Baldridge & Ward tombstones|
Thank you for posting the info on Anna Baldridge, she is my children's gggg-grandmother through her son William Rogers also known as William Baldridge. Anna's daughter Jane was either William's half-sister or full sister as his father Mr. Rogers reportedly died when he was very young & Anna married Mr. Baldridge. Thank you for helping me share my children's Cherokee heritage with them. I would be happy to compare genealogy with her descendants.

I keep have a list which needs updating - I need to update it probably this summer as I am busy as a docent for elementary kids at the Gene Autry Museum in L.A. I have more info on Lovely Rogers, Clem Vann McNair, Rebecca Vann, Dennis W. Bushyhead. Since I have been researching the history of the American West I have found some names in old books. Who are you interested in? I have most of the Gold Rush Cherokee on my Ancestry.com tree- if they are not related to me I put them in story with my ancestors.
My email is email@example.com I am a retired teacher- history major.

|DMLeForce||Esther Hoyt Ward|
Are you still with us? I've sent you a few messages & never get replies. On Esther's memorial 51358531 please add middle name of Susan. She's also currently linked to her grandmother rather then her mother. Please fix this. Edit family links & delete the #'s next to mother & add this in it's place: 5908043. Then save & she should be connected to her mom. Thanks. :)

Hello, I am researching my Grandfather's family. His father was John M Ward, married Lula Arizona Sechrist. Children were: Henry, Charles Conley and Lula Lena. This Ward family lived in New Mexico and Texas.I can trace my Great Grandmother Lula's family back almost 5 generations, but can't locate information on my Great Grandfather (John M Ward). There has to be information out there, possible connections? I thank you in advance.

I am so sorry I have not replied sooner but I closed that email account due to hacking and just realized I hadn't changed my contact info here.
I am sorry to tell you, but I have no information about the Hughes's. My father went and hunted down this little cemetery (there are actually 3 not far from each other) and obtained the names. He is 81 but still remembers a lot about his family search travels. I will ask him and see what he may know or remember. I don't know why the Hughes and Cooks are in the same place but he may. Do you?
... and no, I'm in Alaska! So prob won't be going there until I retire down in the lower 48.
My dad, whose name is also Lawrence (goes by "Bud" lives with me and our phone number is (907) 455-7788 - our time zone in one hour behind California.
Look forward to hearing from you :)
