Vonna, You are welcome. I also got a picture of a Anna Elizabeth Miller that was right next to him. I am assuming his wife, possibly? Anyway, I posted that picture also. Kay

Hi Vonna, I want to thank you for taking the time to make photos of John C. Norris and Johnny Frank Norris' gravestones at Cross Creek Cemetery. These photos contribute greatly to the Memorials. Again, thank you for your assistance.

As per Find A Grave regulations I am asking your permission to post the photos you took for me at the Cross Creek Cemetery to my Family tree. This is a gray area when you ask someone to take the photo for you. But the photo taker actually owns the photos. I really appreciated you getting the photos for me Jomama

Deleted the duplicates. May have a few more as I didn't know Brookside was separate from cross creek. Will try and delete the others. Thanks.

Many thanks for letting me know the correct Cross Creek cemetery to place my memorials in. I was prepared to have to delete them both one day!

Thanks for the heads-up about the duplicate. I moved the photos and deleted the second memorial, though I'm not sure how I missed the first one - I'm positive I searched for the name at SFNC before I made mine ... guess I overlooked it.

You're welcome! It was a fun challenge...so pleased that it ended successfully. I wonder what she would think if she knew how we searched for her.

Nancy McCreight Speer's daughter, Mary McCreight's gravesite is just to the left of Nancy's gravesite. I added a photo for her gravesite also.

|Debra Chard||RE: McCreight|
I have found information that Nancy Dihel (note different spelling) married Ambrose Orr McCreight and children from that marriage were Frances Belle "Frankie" McCreight (Candor Cemetery), Clara B. McCreight, Alfred Blair McCreight, Mary Orr "Minnie" McCreight. Then Nancy married a second time to Robert Duncan Speer and they had children Ann, May, and Thomas Dihel Speer. (Several censuses confirm that she remarried and had children in the household with last name of McCreight)I'm thinking Nancy is probably in Aledo Cemetery. Aledo Cemetery does not have very many records in Find a Grave. I also am quite sure she is not in Candor Cemetery as I looked at the cemetery records for Candor at the Mercer County Historical Society and the only Nancy McCreight is the previous one we spoke of: Nancy M, whose stone is shown in the Candor listing. I'm going to keep looking for her gravestone as my interest in now peaked and I'm intrigued by this mission. Note: Robert D Speer was born about 1823. He is not the same Robert D Speer listed in the Aledo Cemetery.

I realize now that the info on Nancy M McCreight that I recently sent you is not the Nancy McCreight gravestone you are seeking (different husband, different dates). I'll keep up my efforts to solve this mystery and will let you know of any breakthroughs. Sorry for the confusion.

|Debra Chard||Nancy McCreight|
Hi to Vonna! I have some new developments in the search for Nancy McCreight's gravesite in Candor Cemetery, Mercer County Illinois. After Memorial Day services at the church at the cemetery site, I spoke with people who are familiar with the maintenance of the cemetery. There is a listing in the inside of the church of the names in the cemetery effective 1999. A Nancy M. McCreight is indeed found, wife of J.H. McCreight. She shows unknown birthdate and death Jan. 16, 1855, aged 32 years, 9 mos., 15 days. She is listed as being buried with Effie, Frannie, Harvey, James, Leanna, Leslie, Sarah, and William R. I am posting the gravestone photo on find a grave under her name, but not sure if this is what you are looking for or not?

|Carolyn Gibbons||Betsy Ann Gill Webster|
Thanks so much for all you do. Makes searching so much easier and makes the people so much more real. Have I think a correction on Betsy. She is linked to Thomas Gill born 1793 as his daughter. I believe this is not correct. He would have been only 17 when she was born (possible, but early), but the biggest reason is his widow in her pension application for his service for War of 1812 gives their marriage as 3 Mar 1814 Cumberland County, and later claims she was the "first and only wife" of Thomas Gill. Don't have a candidate for her father, but pretty sure not this one.

Hi there Vonnie :::waving::: Thanks for the info. All I can go by is the info on the Death Record which states this is where he was buried. His daughter's Death Record says she is also buried there. Daisy Crumpler-Fort ? # 129607619 Granted,
I'm aware there could possibly be more then one Crumpler Cemetery... I appreciate any info I can get. Blessings, Sandi :-)

|whitepaper||RE: Lewis J. Ayres|
Thank you so much for the compliment. Don't most people want nice readable pictures of their ancestors' stones? I believe a decent picture on Find A Grave is the least we can do to honor our forefathers. However, sometimes it takes me a couple visits to a stone, as in the example of the Ayer's Stone, before I get a decent picture.
