RE: Hollis
I know what you mean. I was confused too, when I saw it. It took me a little bit to put 2 and 2 togther. But, it's not too suprising to me. Around here, it seems like people got moved around all of the time. There were several bodies that were removed from the Homer cemetery and moved to different cemeteries. Of course, Homer is not the only cemetery people have done that with here. Anyway -- if you want me to send you the papers that I have that shows their burial record in Graceland, I can send that to you. It will have a bunch of other names on it too, but at least you can see what I am talking about. Do you have the obits for everyone too? They all say they were buried in Homer. I believe that George Hollis is the one that had them moved. George didn't die until 1930. I believe that George went by his middle name, Frederick or Fred, which was one of Francis & Charlotte's sons. I went out to Graceland Cemetery today to double check the lot where George and his family are buried. The only stones on this lot are the ones for George, Mary and Leonard. But, the lot is rather large, it appears that there was room for another 5 people if not more. And, if you believe in the grave "witching", then I went over the back part of the lot ( I didn't go over the whole thing), but there is one adult male and one adult female buried there that are not marked. So, I believe that this information that was in the burial records was correct. I know thats a lot of information to throw at you at one time. Sorry!! Anyway -- if you would like a copy of that paper, please let me know. I would be happy to give you a copy of it. -- Cathy :)

PS: It's probably a good thing that they did get moved. The part of the Homer Cemetery that they were buried in had a fire and a lot of the grave markers were burned and removed. Unfortunately, the markers were never replaced. So after years went by, people must have forgot that people were buried in there. So, when people go out there today, the Hamilton County Conservation Dept, has turned that area into a "protected paririe area". Then I come along and find that people were (and some still are) buried in that section. They were not too happy with me, when I was telling them that people were buried in there and we needed to have access to it. They were not going to let me make access points in their prairie area. So, it's a good thing anyway that they did get moved. That prairie grass was taller than me, which makes it just about six feet tall if not taller. :)

Hollis Family #2
Sorry -- me again. I did have the paper with the lot numbers. Lucretia (Charlotte) and Francis are buried on the same lot with George, Mary and Leonard in Graceland Cemetery. It is Lot 37, Sec 28. I took pictures of this lot already and there are no headstones for Francis and Charlotte. Sorry... Cathy :)

Hollis family -- Homer Cemetery
Hi Linda!! I just wanted to give you some information on this family that I have found. I have found the obituaries for May Permelia(Mary) Hollis (who was the wife of George Hollis), Francis Hollis and Charlotte Hollis. All of these obits say that these people were buried in the Homer Cemetery. However, I had printed off the burial permits for the Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. On September 29, 1925 the following persons were all buried on this date in Graceland: 1) Mary P. Hollis, 2) Leonard E. Hollis (son of Mary P. and George), 3) Lucretia Hollis (According to census records, I believe this to be Charlotte) and 4) Francis Hollis. Since so many of them had the same burial date, this tells me that they were all moved from another cemetery. I have not yet found an obit for Leonard Hollis, but he died in 1906 I believe, so he would have had to have been moved here also. The paper that I have does not say what lot they are all buried on. However, I do know that George, Mary and Leonard are all buried on the same lot. I do not know if Francis (Frank) and his wife are on the lot with them. If they are, they do not have any stones. I hope this helps some. I will check with the cemetery office to see if I can find out where Francis and Charlotte are acutally buried. If you have any questions please let me know. Thanks!! -- Cathy :)

Edith Wilkinson
Hi Linda, Happy Holidays. While I was working on my Family Tree I can to my Great Grandaunt Edith Levina Cruts "Wilkinson" and saw your memorial of her # 6731055. Well Edith remarried after J.W.A. "Gussie" Wilkinson died to Fred Riley Adams. Would you be so kind to group Mr. Wilkinson #6731056 to Edith's?

Thank You Ray in K.C.

That memorial was added almost 6 yrs ago and not sure if it was a paper obit or from a book I bought.Sorry I cant tell more.

Linda, I will change my records to James thomas Clifton Clevenger. He is related to me on the O'Dell's and the Cates families. My records show that he was married to Clara Belle Cates d/o Jasper Jack Cates......Thanks for setting me straight on the name...I would like to know if him and Clara had any children and if so, what info you have on them. Thanks, Sharon
