RE: Kuliouou Cemetery
Just now saw your message. No, I've not heard of a Kuliouou Cemetery. That one is new to me.

RE: Loch View Cemetery
Without more evidence, I'll have to stand my ground. I went back to my source - a transcript by a respected researcher, and she has it spelled "Lockview". I checked a couple of spots, it's not a typo. I admit that "Loch" makes better sense, but I would stand by my source over a single death certificate.

The information in the flicker link you gave has problems. The plot where I took my photos is listed as being owned by the Roman Catholic Church. The Hawaiian Cemetery Association owns Sunset Memorial Park which is larger and just around the corner on the same block. I'll add that George Galbraith wasn't found listed as buried in Lockview from the State Archives.

I don't have a transcript for Sunset as they are still considered "active". The survey I have is only for "inactive" or "static" cemeteries.

RE: Lock View Cemetery A and B
If I remember right, the land is owned by the Catholic Church. I might have been the old location for a church. I wouldn't rule out the possibility that "A" is the area behind "B" or that it's in a nearby spot that's since been developed. I really don't know. I'm sure they're in the same general area, I just don't know for sure the relationship.

RE: Lock View Cemetery A and B
LockView B was the name given in a 1980's island-wide cemetery transcription. It is likely that "A" and "B" are the same, but I have no proof. I do know that most of "B" in that transcript seems to have headstones while "A" was culled from the State Archives. That may explain what's going on, but again, I have no proof.

I created "B" following the naming used in the transcript (Since the names found proved that they were one in the same.) I could not find any sign at the site that indicated a name, so that seemed like the best choice. I did not create "A".

It's possible that Lockwood is the one I've seen described as being used as a construction yard during road widening. That would certainly describe it's current state with all the headstones pushed into a corner.

RE: Kahaluu Cemetery ?
Well, I'm not finding much. The cemetery expert has nothing on it. I called Borthwick, but their records don't go back that far. They said to check with the State Archives.

At this point I suspect there is no "Kahaluu Cemetery" but that it's a back yard burial in Kahaluu.

BTW, any luck with your family in the King Street Cemetery? I found an article that said 38 graves were moved for road widening.

RE: Kahaluu Cemetery ?
No go on my Thursday library trip. But I did get the phone number of the local cemetery expert. She didn't know the answer off the top of her head. She's checking her records.

RE: Kahaluu Cemetery ?
Funny you should mention Hookano. The only other photo I took on my visit to Waikane has the middle name of Hookano. The reason I took the photo is that the inscription is very shallow. The light was good and I was worried that by the time I get around to doing this cemetery, it would be too late.

RE: Kahaluu Cemetery ?
I added the information I found on the Thomas Watson found in the Waikane Congregational Cemetery. The stone isn't the easiest to read, but it does look like the transcription was correct.

RE: Kahaluu Cemetery ?
My weekend scouting turned up interesting tidbits, but no hard data. I'll have to see what I can find on my Thursday library run.

RE: Kahaluu Cemetery ?
Boy, you come up with some interesting questions. There are a couple more out that way. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery and across the street at Waikane Congregational Church Cemetery. I have a transcription that shows a Thomas K. Watson at Waikane, but the dates are wrong: 1909-1955. Perhaps a son?

It may be worth looking at just to see if the transcription is wrong. But they do seem a bit far on the other side of Kahaluu.

I wouldn't discount Vally of the Temples - what was there before it was built? Also he could have been moved to Greenhaven or Hawaiian Memorial if the cemetery was closed.

There's a couple of loose clues I need to look at. I'll get back to you tomorrow on those.

RE: Kaneohe Church Cemetery
The message from Kaumakapili Church is good enough for me. I was concerned that the burial had been moved, that's why only considered the obituary "evidence" and not "proof".

I'll put in a message to update things. It should be fixed up sometime next week.

Thanks.
