In regards to Gen. Henry Bertram
Hello Thomas,

Are you related to Union Gen. Bertram? He just happened to be the Colonel that signed a pardon for my 3rd great grandfather Ralph W. Matthews of Rusk County, TX. I have a copy of the pardon, which was a standard issue. I just thought it was interesting that I found Gen. Bertram's memorial on Find-A-Grave.

Aspen Cemetery - Burlington IA
You posted a photo of the Augustus Caesar Dodge memorial at Aspen Cemetery, Burlington, Des Moines, IA in 2009. Would you happen to know if his son and daughter in law, Augustus Villars Dodge and Virginia Atherton Temple Dodge are also interred at this same cemetery?

RE: Milligan
I truly think you have discovered that I have
him in the wrong place as the picture I have
is the same one you have. I got his death certif
out and it has he is in Mt. Hope. Why I have
he was in Rest Haven I think in one of his obits
it has him buried there.
I will change my place of burial to Mt. Hope,
since his death certif has it Mt. Hope.
Also his son James is buried at Mt. Hope.
Of course his death certificate had his parents
were born in Ireland and they were not.
they were born in Maryland.
And that is from his bible record.
You must remember I posted all of this several
years ago, and I may have changed the place
of burial because of a relative saying different.
I emailed my friend who is doing the book, he
has been there and taken all the pictures of all
that are there that are related. Lambdin P. had
a lot of grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
James alone had 8 children.
Thanks for making me get out the notebooks and
look at the original documents of his obits and
death certificates.

RE: Milligan
LPMilligan is buried at Pilgram Rest Cem.
Evidently the two cemeterys are adjoining or
close to one another, I have a very large
picture of LPMilligans tombstone and its in
Pilgram Rest. along with his children and wives. Its also in his bio that he is
buried at Pilgram rest and also on his death certif. I have a friend who is an att. in
Ft. Wayne who is writing a book about LPMilligan
and He has been to Huntington often since he lives not far
from Huntington, and also says he is buried in
Pilgram Rest, so your information about him
is incorrect as far as where he is buried. There maybe boundry lines of the two cemeterys and you do not know this, But as recent as a year ago he
was known to be in Pilgrams Rest.
He along with other family are buried in the same
cemetery. I have done over 40 years of research
on my great great Uncle Lambdin P. Milligan,
and there is not much I do not know about him and
his family. Besides corresponding with other relatives of LPMilligan.
My maiden name is Milligan.
The story you have on his Find A Grave is a glossed down
story about him, there is so much more you do
not know you were only copying what others wrote
and his life was so much fuller than is described
on the information you have about him.
He was a great friend of Chief LaFountaine.
He and his son Moses Warren and James were Catholics.
Oh there is just so much more you are not aware of, It has taken several years of going back to
Ohio where he was born and bringing him forward
to Indiana that has not been published about him.
He was a very smart man, and was found innocent
of treason of the U. S. which all family memembers feel he was caught up in a political
sham. but was smart enough to know how to prove his innocense.
What you have posted is just for public knowledge of LPM, and so much left out.

I met you at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Pontiac, Michigan. I am overwhelmed with all of your efforts on Find A Grave. Without patriots like yourself, these memorials will not be completed. I truly appreciate your efforts. Wishing you success in your future endeavors.

Samuel S. McClure
Thomas - Thank you for adding a picture of the marker for Samuel McClure to complete his find-a-grave entry. I'm sure that his living relatives will be or are pleasantly surprised just like I was although I am not a relative. My grandmother's father and all of his brothers worked for McClure at some time during their publishing careers.
