|Myra ||Hofer Family|
I am doing the update re-write on the Hofer Family Story. Would you happen to know if there is a grave for Dick Burgett, Jenny Lee Hofer's husband? Also I need some information on you for the book as well. All we have is your name. The information you gave me a couple of years back was lost when my computer crashed.
Do you still have my e-mail address? Let me know through Find A Grave if you don't.
Sincerely, Myra Hofer

|Michael Carter||RE: Ada Beyer Jay|
I am so glad that I got in touch with you. Yes, Betty's sister was my grandma "Mille" Florence Mildred Appleton who was married to "Gys" for a while. Gys was a great grandfather although he was my dad's step-dad. Grandma was married 4 times, only 2, Gys and Vern were a part of my life. Did not know my "real" grandfather Carter...either did my dad although Ray Carter lived and died in Marshalltown.
I missed Gysbert's funeral as I was overseas with the Air Force. That still bothers me. We quit comming to Lynnville. I reconnected with my Iowa family 16 years ago. You may remember the Bill Johnson that blew his house up, then shot himself in Van Meter, IA a year or so ago...that was a cousin on my mother's side I had never met but gotten to know thru geneology and my re-connect efforts. We Skyped and talked on the phone. We were supposed to meet for the 1st time in Van Meter on our annual trip. Broke my heart that it did not happen, maybe I could of helped him more. I did try when we talked. Shockingly,I rec'd all of his work, videos, hard drives etc in the mail postmarked the day before he died.
Bernice and Carl's kids Beth and Jody have done great. Beth has a MBA in nursing and gives many talks around the country and lives in Pleasant Hills and Jody is a doctor married to a neurosugeon in Pensecola, FL.
Maybe we'll meet again one day David.

David, thanks for this great information. Where in the world did you find it? I have looked everywhere! The death dates were really important. Now if we can just find their graves.
I remember gramma Lucy so well. After she died, nobody would go in here room...really spooky as I slept upstairs by myself and her old room with the closed door was right down the hall. Scared me to death. I still look up at that window when I see the old house!
Oh my gosh, I remember that dog! I'm 59 and I wish I could remember you. I love Lynnville and had so many great times there. I still come back every year to see Aunt Bernice. My dad, Rollie Carter lived there for a time. Saved lives in the Skunk river at the Mill. 1st Valor Award in Iowa. The guy that was awarded the 2nd, saved my life in the Iowa River at Alden when I was 5. Found him 2 years ago in Tulsa (I live in Muskogee, OK 40 miles away!) Met him today for the first time at his 50th Wedding Anniversary.
I hung around with Brad Crews and my cousin Dennis Evans. Even played on the baseball team 1 summer. I still talk to Denny all the time. I spent alot of time in Uncle Ralph and Aunt Betty's grocery store and loafing at the old gas station on the corner from Grandpa Beyer's house.
Walked up the hill a million times...you're so right...so many stories. Feel like your my brother now!
Ray Jay saved Grampa Gysbert's life on that pole and he's gone now too.

Trying this as well. Hope you'll transfer to me. Can you help find Ada's parents Simon & Lucy Beyer? I've got everything on them except death dates and where they are buried. Must be in Lynnville somewhere as I remember Grandma Lucy at Gysbert's house.
Aunt Bernice Smith can't even help!

You didn't give me enough information to locate her. If you send her memorial number or the name of the cemetery where she is buried I'll find and fix the typo.
Thanks for catching my error.
