RE: Patrick McDermitt
Hi, in your memorial the 2 children listed are John & Brigid

In the obit it lists children as:
John, Bridget, Anna and Catharine, all of whom reside at home. And Sister Mary Vincent, a member of the order of Sisters of Charity.

That's part of the reason I think they are the same gent.

In the obit it says he was about 70 years of age and your memorial says he was 79.

The memorials differ on year he came to the states, but they both say he worked for the PRR and they were both married to a Mary.

I just wanted to send you this little bit I gleaned from both of the memorials I looked at. They could be the same or maybe just very very very similar people?? LOL

Have a great day!!

RE: Patrick McDermitt
I'm glad I could help.

Would you kindly add the obit into his bio so others might also be able to see it?

Have a great day!

If I find any other bits of info I will pass them along.

Hi, I see in your bio that you ask not to be contacted about family memorials, but I just noticed I ended up duplicating one of your family because the death date if incorrect.

Your memorial for Patrick
Memorial# 66212614

Memorial# 151890156

With so many worn stones or missing stones I have been going through the obituaries and papers or death certificates to find burials for St. John's and correct unknown names and dates.

But he is listed in the paper Altoona Tribune
on Aug 29, 1891
"Death of Patrick McDermitt"

Your death date says Jul. 16, 1895, so I thought it might be two different men as there is still yet another Patrick McDermitt also buried in St. John's.

But, looking again at the wife's name and some of the children it looks to be the same man.

I am only leaving up my memorial for this message so you can see the newspaper information. It also lists his wife's maiden name which you don't have yet and a list of more children surviving him.

I am also not sure which place in Ireland he hails from? The obit says He was born in county Roscommon, Ireland. Your memorial says Athboy
County Meath, Ireland. Sometimes obits are incorrect, but I leave that up to your discretion.

Let me know when you see this message and have had the time to look at the obit. Then I can delete it since it is a duplicate.

Thanks for your time and have a great day!!

Busy Busy Busy here too. I photographed all of St. John Cemetery a couple of months back, so I expect to make lots of folks happy with long-sought tombstone pics. Yours was the first one.

Also on tap for today - making crab apple jelly and applesauce. The apple trees of the county are hanging with fruit this year.

Never met the man, so I couldn't even offer an opinion.

Send it to me: and I'll forward it to the diocesan newspaper. With any luck it might match his pic in their files.

I will try to do better than wait until I see Carol Jean because that may not be for a long time. She still lives in Rockcastle Co., I will call her if she still has a listed #. Her husband is deceased and may not have a listed #. if not, I will be going to Mt. Vernon in a few days and I will go see her if she is home and give her your e-mail address. if she does not use a computer can I give her your phone #? Please do not send it here- e-mail it to me. And I always called Mrs. Purcell "Mrs. Mamie". Surprised me on Ancestry to learn her name was not "Mamie".

Yes. Ben's wife, Maud Adams was a daughter of Sarah Dorcas (Livesay) Adams who was my grand-mother's 1st cousin and they were very close. I may have told you Maud's mother "cousin Sarah" as we always called her, lived with my grand-mother for several years.

Mary Ellen who married booth Purcell. When I was a child I passed their house on my way to town, church, etc. and I visited with them a lot. Plus I knew many of her family members. Her son Ben married a (fairly) distant relative. I see Cecil's daughter fairly often (she went to school with my brother) and we all graduated from mt. Vernon High. I loved Mrs. Purcell - used to sit on the porch with her and talk for ages and - of course - I always "had" to share a meal with them.
I have them in my Family Tree because of Ben's wife Maude who was a daughter of my grand-mother's 1st cousin.

I do not remember if I ever answered your question Re: marriage certificate for Constantine and his last wife. In my Family Tree, I have the Marriage Index for them. My computer has been going crazy during all this horrible snow and ice and even before that. It will not let me transfer that copy. when I can get out of my long driveway again, I can go to our Library and print it off and send it to you if you want me too. By the way, one of my daughters lives in Burnside and loves visiting old grave sites. since Constantine was my (older) friend's father, we will visit his grave this spring.

Hi. ?This family is only distantly related via marriage, but when I was a child, I visited Booth and his wife Mary Ellen (Miss Mamie) 2 or 3 times a week, so I loved that couple. Plus ben purcell married a relative. I found Constantine marrying his 2nd wife 2 years before his 1st wife died, but found no record of a divorce. Since this is your family I hoped you can clear this up for me. I also found a marriage for Constantine marrying
Elizabeth Allen in 1877 so now I am really confused. I have probably copied some of my info. from other Trees. Thanks for the great article you put on the Findagrave site.

Denny/Denney family
Hi Maureen :) Was hoping that I could get permission to use some of your photos as I come to them of the Denney/Denny family. This is my maternal line and I'm related to so so many of the Denny's from Rockcastle and Pulaski County. Finally getting back around to working on my tree again. Just found a wonderful photo on Mary C. Denney Davis' memorial. I will definitely give you credit for any of them I find and use :) :) Thanks so much!!

I thought I was the editor of the memorial when I was changing the translation of the inscription. I had changed it on Joseph's wife, Anna. Would you be willing to transfer Joseph to me? He is my great grandfather.

John Paul Davis photo
I just wanted to send a quick note to let you know why I added the photo although there was already one on his page...someone has good heartedly tried to "clean" the stone and used chemicals that have obviously damaged the stone since it's only been three years since the existing photo...sad that folks don't research the proper cleaning procedures...I'm really glad that the older photo still shows the information on the stone as it's almost impossible to make out now. If you would rather I remove it please let me know and I will :) Have a great Wednesday!
