RE: Israel LaPierre
Hi Julie,
I just went into my notes and found that you had sent me a message 3/27/06 about Israel.

Now I know who you are. I transferred Israel and Blanche LaPierre over to you, you'll be able to do what you want. You could have uploaded photos before. Which was a question that you asked me back in 06.

Take care and if you need any help, just ask.

RE: Israel LaPierre
I'll transfer Israel LaPierre over to you, seeing as you are directly related. If I put his wife Blanche on Find A Grave, I'll do the same for her. I'll have to look.

It doesn't matter to me. So far, I haven't connected this family to my LaPierre family.
There were two families in the area.

RE: Israel LaPierre
I noticed you added Israel LaPierre's Memorial on Find A Grave, April 12, 2006.
I added the same in 2004 and added photos that I took myself. Did you copy my photos or did you take your own? They look the same.

I think one Memorial is needed, not two. Again, are you related?
I'll have to look in my family tree to find the connection to my graet uncle.

Hi Julie,
Yes I am related to some LaPierres. I haven't connected Israel LaPierre to my great uncle Joseph Isadore Theodore LaPierre yet. But I had found his grave and information for I added it to Findagrave.
Are you related to him?

Oakland Cemetery
I read your bio that your family was associated with Oakland Cemetery. Perhaps you are already aware of this, but I found on City of Sandusky's website, located under the subheading "Horticulture", Oakland Cemetery with a genealogy search. I was pleasantly surprised!

I emailed Dan Hedberg about this database. He emailed me back that the database is 8,000 entered of 35,000 plus burials. He said they are shorthanded at Oakland. I had requested a spreadsheet that could be uploaded into find-a-grave with what he currently had in that database, explaining that you would have to know the person was buried at Oakland as opposed to Find-a-grave's general search by name, then cemetery. As of this morning, I didn't hear back, perhaps you'd like to try? I was using the database to enter names into Oakland, but it would save a lot of time to just have the original spreadsheet. Let me know, Linda

Bickley Graves in Oakland Cemetery
We went to Oakland Cemetery today and talked with the superintendent. He was surprised that John & Sara were not buried together. He helped us (my husband and I) locate where their graves might be. He cautioned us that many graves didn't have stones and some the stones had covered over by earth over time.

We went to Block 5 which faces onto the main highway. I have several pictures of all the Bickley graves in that section. This is the area the superintendent said John's grave would be. We didn't see a headstone for John there.

We went further back, almost to the back of the cemetery to the old public section Range L. Many of the graves are flat to the ground and several are nearly covered over with earth. There were even some Iron headstones in that section, however, we couldn't find a headstone for Sarah.

On a gamble we went across from Range L to Section E to look for their daughter Rhoda Katherine but again, although we found some Bickley headstones we didn't see any with Rhoda's name on it.

If you'd like the pictures of the other Bickley graves in section 5 where we think John is buried please let me know. I'd be more than happy to send them to you.

Dobson Memorials Update
This is to let you know that grave marker photos have been added for two of your memorials, James C. Dobson, Sr. and his wife, Myrtle C. Dobson. You might want to update their birth and death date information fields.

As the parents of Dr. James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family in Colorado Springs, I would think it might be fairly easy to get more complete information about them either from Focus' website or someone at the organization. Is there a reason why they were not considered famous? (since although they're not as well known as their son, he's talked about them a lot on the radio and at various times during his public ministry).

Thanks for adding their memorials to Find A Grave; and may you have a blessed New Year! :)
