|Dolores J. Rush||Fletcher-White Family|
I see you have a couple of photo requests for Fletcher family members in Stafford cemetery. I related to both Fletchers and Whites, namely the Martin & Kiturah Ann Fletcher White who owned the land where the Stafford cemetery is presently located. Moses Stafford purchased it from them when they moved to the Kansas territory in 1855. My grandmother researched the Whites & Fletchers for 28 years and finally published her big red book. It's called "White's Family & Their Kin" by Mrs. Gladys Esther White O'Neal and Elma Leota White Stoops, Paper Graphics, Garden City, KS, 1983. I've taken up researching my 3rd great-grandparents, Martin #50298335 and Kiturah #50298934. Been doing it for several years now. Are you requesting for yourself or others?

Yes, you can. Scroll down to the Burial: Edit - and click on Edit. Follow the instructions, clicking on the same cemetery for Conway County and you are done. Nothing changes except the cemetery.

The Millennium File that you sent me is for John Amstultz. Millennium files are terribly unreliable. Any posting of this more appropriately belongs on a memorial for John (Johannes). If you know what cemetery he is buried in you can create a memorial. Thank-you for the information.

|Barbara Hale Reynolds||Anna Rogers Correction|
I need to make a correction in my earlier email. I have the 1870 census in book form which shows the following:
HALE, Preston 19 m w AR Farmer ---/150 School
Anna J. 27 f w AR crw
Malizza 1mo f w AR b:Apr
ROGERS, Mary 19 f w AR School
I noticed however that Ancestry shows Nancy Rogers and when I looked at the actual census it does indeed look like Nancy Rogers. Nancy married into my grandmother's Jones family.
I apologize for that error...thank you.

|Barbara Hale Reynolds||Anna Rogers Hale|
Anna was the daughter of Columbus Chambers Rogers and Cynthia Shipman. She married Preston Hale and they had six children. Information on her birth date is difficult to come by because the only place I have found her age is in census and they do not agree from census to census. She appears to have been born in 1840 according to 1850, 1860 and 187,0 but finally shows up born about 1850 in the 1880 census. I believe she died in childbirth with her last child Catherine. There is no marker for her at Mt. Moriah so dates are speculation at best.
I have been told by family who live in the area and know Mt. Moriah Cemetery very well that there are well over 100 unmarked graves.
Preston Hale remarried in 1884.
Anna did not marry George Washington Terry (1835-1906) and I don't show she was named Indiana. George married Arrena Jones (ca 1836-aft Aug 1870) and then Sarah Elizabeth Ann Wilson. I have legal documents from the Scott County Courthouse proving George's wife was Arena Terry.
Saline Co. Deed Book E, pg 54
George Terry and his wife Arena of Scott Co. AR sold his 1/3 interest in his father's land W1/2 of NE1/4 S21 T1S R17W for $100.00 to John C. Henderson on 27 Dec 1854. George and Arena signed by mark.----------------------
George and Arrena's first child was born ca 1856
1860 Hunt Twp., Olio P.O., Scott Co., AR
TERRY George 25 m AR farmer---/250
Arina 22 f AR
Polly A. 3 f AR
Margaret M. 2 f AR
1870 Census - Scott County, Arkansas
Terry, George W. 36 mw AR
Aerealy 34 f w AR
Polly An 14 f w AR
Margaret M 10 f w AR
Mary 3 f w AR
Teensey 1 f w AR
Jones, Emeran H. 24 f w AR
William T. 2 m w AR
In this census Arrena's name was mis-spelled and notice her sister Emeranda and son were living with Arrena and George.
George remarried Sarah Elizabeth Ann Wilson Welch about 1874. He died either 1906 or 1907 (I have found both years in records).
Anna Rogers age is harder to determine. Two censes would have her born in about 1840 and the 1880 census in 1850.
1870 Hunt Twp #52/52
Hale, Preston 19
Anna J. 27 (note: her age was probably wrong - more like 17)
Malizza 1 mo
Mary Rogers 19
1880 (June 3) James Twp., Scott Co., Arkansas
HALE, Preston H W M 29 Md Farmer; Cannot write AR VA MO
HALE, Annie W F 30 Md Kp house; Can't Read/Write AR VA MO
HALE, Melissa W F 9 S [son scratched out] AR AR AR
HALE, Nancy J W F 7 S AR AR AR
HALE, James N W M 7 S AR AR AR
HALE, Dolphus L W M 4 S AR AR AR
HALE, John P W M 4/12 AR AR AR
You will notice George and Arrena are married with children and living in Hunt Township in 1870. Preston and Anna are also living in Hunt Township in 1870 with one child and her sister/nephew in their household.
There is no doubt that Anna Rogers was never married to George Washington Terry. I know what Alden Smith printed in his book. I also know where he got the info because I have copies of their correspondence. I knew Mr. Smith and his widow had me index his research materials to give to the Scott County Historical Society.
I have carefully studied the people of Scott County, Arkansas for many years; I was born there and all of my dad's family has resided there primarily since the mid-1840s.
I'm happy to help anyway I can. Don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for correcting the info on Find A Grave.
