He is buried in this national cemetery. Perhaps his wife is also there.

Nope, not recently. Have been working on a lot of my family lines and I leave my computer on 24/7 except last night my computer went through an automatic update and killed all my open tabs!! Now to figure out who I was last working before I went to bed this morning at 5 a.m.! So until that hour everything was working fine on Find A Grave.

Joseph Haegan - Fairfield CA
Good morning,

I am a photo volunteer and had been tasked with taking a pic of Joseph Haegen thought to be buried in Fairfield Cemetery. I thought I would drop you a line to let you know I spoke to a wonderfully helpful woman in the Fairfield Cemetery office named Josephine. We spent some time looking for Mr. Haegen, and we have determined a few things. First, his wife Emma is located in Plot 174 Grave 2. Second, Joseph is NOT in Grave 7, that has another individual in it. 3. Josephine cannot locate any information that he is in fact buried in that cemetery. He does not show up in any of their records or database.

Not sure how you might want to update the plot info on this memorial, but thought I would provide you with some details.

Thanks great use of Find A Grave I am sure at some time her cremains will be interred there sometimes the family hold onto the cremains until a later date when they can get together or the other partner passes, I thank you for the respectful way you addressed this memorial contribution its good to be able to work with another Find A Grave member by good communication as you are no doubt aware this doesn't, always happen, I hope we may be able to work together in the future .
Thanks again Vaughan

PVT Raphurl M. Smith

Around 1904 there was still a cemetery in Vacaville on the hill at the west edge of what is now Andrews Park. It was shortly after that time that all burial activity was performed at the site between Marshall Road and Elmira Road (the current cemetery).

I haven't located any burial records for the Andrews Park site. If they could be located, we could create a cemetery for that defunct location.

Diane, in the current cemetery office, told me that about fifty people were moved from the Andrews Park site into individual graves at Vacaville-Elmira.

I doubt that all the graves were moved at that time, as some were probably unmarked.

Maybe the best we can do for Mr. Smith is put a note in his bio saying that he does not show in the Vacaville-Elmira cemetery record. If someone comes up with better information later, you will be able to adjust.

Blackwell Stegall Descendant
I believe Blackwell is my husband's GGG Grandfather. Blackwell Stegall -> Emsley Stegall -> Robert B Stegall -> Nannie J. Stegall -> Private -> Private (my husband)

Looks like we'll have to plan a road trip soon to visit all of the Stegalls.

Thanks for posting grave information!

RE: Leonard Shouse
No, I've never seen anything like that in my various visits. Last year, there was nothing remainin, even the wooden marker has completely disappeared, due to vandalism. I am still looking through my old photos (the kind that used film - LOL) to see if I have a picture of the old marker from 1988. At least I still remember what it looked like.

The note was taken directly from the Vallejo Benicia Genealogical Society AMD their database regarding the cemetery. Not sure what it means, but I left it.

I am sorry. I cannot recall. At the times I was in the cemetery, it was severely overgrown, covering most of the stones.

Fairfield Cemeteries
Yeah, me too - seems like someone is going through all the work we did and redoing it or finding our typos - which that is a good thing - but sometimes it is annoying, ha! ha!

One of these days I'll have to get back to Fairmont and do a walk through to see who all is new or who has been removed. I had made an excel spread sheet of Fairmont so that when I go back all the names are in order as they were when I worked it so it is easy to add or remove names and then go into Find A Grave and make the corrections if necessary.

I'm presuming you are still working Rockville and Fairfield/Suisun? Are you still doing the one up in Dixon? How about the military one in Benicia?

When I have been traveling and doing my own genealogy I take photos in those cemeteries in the hopes I can add to that cemetery. Did a complete cemetery in Kentucky a couple of years ago -- was there for 2 weeks visiting but Bob and I had it all photographed in about 3-4 days. Some photos and names were already there but added (my opinion, of course) better pictures of the gravestones.

Took family photos this summer of graves in Iowa where Bob's family lived/still lives and where my grandpa and some of his relatives lived.

So you can see some of these other projects have superseded working Fairmont. Have had a few people send in some edits of late, which is great. Helps to fill in those people's family data.

Anyway, love to hear from you and what you are up to any time. Happy Easter as it is soon here.
