I guess I don't understand...
I noticed one of the boston bombers are on the *famous find a grave* He's a terrorist and yet, there's a 4-star general who served in 3 wars we knew personally in Gove, Ks. who isn't listed...You read about what he accomplished, he deserves to be honored as a famous general..We have all the news clippings in our museum in Gove, ks. Please read his obit. and put him on the famous side...It would mean alot to us who knew him so well.

Duplicate Memorials
I came on this site to find information on the graves of family members, and I really appreciate having access to family graves that are too distant for me to visit. I'm disabled, so I add very few memorials. The few I have added, were only done so after searching the site for the names. When I don't find a record of someone, then I add the memorial page.

What has happened, more than once, is shortly after I add a page, I get an email telling me it is a duplicate to a prior entry. An entry that did not turn up in my searches. Is this a problem with your search feature? I always search first with name and date of death, then search with the state and county, and finally I search the cemetery. The person I added did not show up in any searches, even after refreshing the pages, so I added him. Now I'm being asked to delete my "duplicate" memorial.

It's frustrating to waste time creating a memorial page, after doing an extensive search for an existing page, only to be told it had already been done. Do you have any suggestions? Is the search feature going to be updated anytime soon? I appreciate any help you, or other admin. personnel, can offer.

Veterans
Recognition and support of our Veterans has always been important. May I suggest that the website look into providing an image (logo) which is specific to various wars: Revolutionary, North/South War Between the States, Spanish-American, Korean, Vietnam, etc. Instead of flowers, there would be immediate recognition of the participation of our vets. Thanks!

Inactive Account Prevents Transfer or Corrections
Dear Jim,

There is (was?) a person who has added over 105,000 memorials and managed almost 90,000 memorials. Kudos to this person. However, there's a problem... this person has become inactive and has suspended his/her email activity. I even fear that this person may have died! I cannot submit new info on a number of close relatives in central Wisconsin. I cannot link relatives in certain ways: a child to a parent if the child was managed by a now inactive contributor. I am frustrated as I have a lot of information! I have submitted the same info to Find A Grave with no results to date. I know this person meant well but if these memorials cannot be kept up to date, what is the point of adding records...if they can't be kept up? Is there a way of contacting Find A Grave to transfer ownership of a memorial to a new owner if the owner is inactive or dies? (I know that the new owner will have to be closely related to have this event happen). Please advise...

Mr Tipton, I apologize for bothering you with this issue. But, apparently I have offended someone and believe they are on a personal crusade to find every mistake I have made. I've been receiving numerous messages from them. Is this normal? I thought at first they were on your staff.

Memorial was deleted
Mr. Tipton..When I joined find a grave 12 years ago, I was under the impression that if you were a member, you could add a memorial for your loved one. Something personal, where you, friends and family could go and leave messages so that you could cope with your grief, with only the photos that you, friends and family can add and that no one else could delete the memorial unless it was inappropriate. A memorial that I created last week and added pictures to and also a private bio has been deleted. I take it that this person thinks that he is the only one allowed to enter names for this cemetery and he only copies the obit from the paper which is very impersonal. I didnt know that he had added one the day this came out in the paper, and I want to know how he was able to delete it when i am the one who created it?? Is it right for only one person to be allowed to create memorials from one cemetery??

Normandy
Hi Jim. I was having a bad time putting a soldier [109954628] into Normandy, France. My option was to put him into Surrey, England. I did put "French region" in the bio, but when I look Normandy up, those enticing links want to know if I want to go to Normand Beach, Normandy, France.

Dave Isaacs (#47506508) please check out his profile...having problems with him "dup'ing and copying information from other members.

I belong to a group and have been getting hit with problems about this member.. you need to check him out...

Someone has duplicated the memorials of TC Hawpe and his wife Electa. I have sent e-mails and posted on his public message board that it is wrong. Also the Creator of Electa has posted. Trying to get family members to post and let hiom know to take his duplicates down. If you feel the same about duplicator's making copies of what we have worked hard on please post to his message board.

Dan Miller
Sarasota National Cemetery
Hi, I have photographed over 5000 gravestones at the Sarasota National Cemetery, and they have recently started a Columbarium Wall and a Memory Wall for the Cemetery, which will contain over 7500 names in just that area alone. I have a great picture which I would like to add, but there is not room to add another picture for the cemetery. Can we somehow add a new picture just for those which contain the location "Columbarium" at the cemetery? Thanks for all you have done, I am a Big Fan.

Mose McConnell # 14793793
Hi,

I'd love to manage my 4th great grand father, Moses McConnell if you would transfer him.

If you don't care to transfer him, would you please make some corrections?

His name was William Moses McConnell and Moses was his "nickname".

He was born on Aug. 22, 1782, (note the photo on his memorial). The date you have have on the memorial would have him born before his mother! I know it's confusing having so many Moses McConnells!

Here are the names of his children with Elizabeth Gilliland McConnell:
John Abram McConnell 1807-1867 # 14768134
Rosanna Fryatt McConnell Stotts 1818-1888 # 52050765
James G. McConnell 1812-1870 # 34822516
Hannah J. McConnell 1815-
Mary Ann McConnell 1818-
John Gilliland McConnell 1821-1870 # 37050447
Thomas B.McConnell 1825-
William Carroll McConnell 1828-

I haven't been able to find a Firdella McConnell in Wm. Moses & Elizabeth G. McConnell's line. Do you have any information about her?

Yours, Valice

Re: Disrespectful Contributors
Also Mr. Tipton, It would have been so simple if she had contacted my family about her planned photo project but she didnt. I have asked this woman to remove three unapproved memorials of my family and she has done that but I've found many more that my family and distant relatives are unhappy about with fictitious information in different cemeteries. She has blocked my email so I cannot ask for any more to be remove. She says to contact find a grave directly so I need the contact phone numbers for this. Please send info

Re: Disrespectful contributors
In addition to my previous post, my sister's grave has been vandilized twice and although the information is public record, I don't believe that including actual photographs is necessary for research. It makes it easy for vandals to point and click there way to their targets.
