Fallen Graver

Sadly, LeRoy L. Smith has passed away. Please consider visiting their Find a Grave memorial page and leaving some virtual flowers. Their enthusiasm for cemeteries and willingness to help future generations lives on through their contributions to Find a Grave.

Bio

I am a military veteran of the United States Navy (MCPO, E-9) with 25 years active service (off the farm at 18), then closing out with five additional years in the Fleet Reserve. The remainder of my career was in civil service.

Became interested in family genealogy upon discovering that my great-grandfather had immigrated to this county from Germany in 1856. He fought in the Civil War (Union) as a substitute for two enlistments for two different individuals. (See Samuel Smith, FAG# 16275483)

I have two family trees to maintain. My personal tree (Zimmerman/Smith Family Connections) contains about 1000 individuals. My second tree is for my daughter-in-law's family and my grandchildren (Ouimette/Cramer Family Connections) and contains nearly 800 individuals. I am a member of Find-A-Grave and Ancestry.com.

My goal is to link all of my relatives listed on Find-A-Grave to their respective families with proper editing. To this end I am forwarding verified editing information to those contributors who have submitted memorials for deceased members of my family tree, or in some cases, I have requested maintenance responsibility and now have a growing list of memorials that I am responsible for.

Transfers of memorials are no problem as long as they are within the guidelines set forth by Find-A-Grave. In special cases a transfer can be given with a proper request and explanation. Editing and Linking will be done as long as the information is verifiable. Please use the EDIT function with your FAG#. Thank You.

NOTE: In the event of my death or my becoming inactive, I would like my memorials passed to T. BURT, #47009168. This information has been provided to Find-A-Grave and has T. BURT's generous acceptance.
