John H. Deloach was born about 1762, a son of Hardy Deloach, Sr. and his wife, Elizabeth Hart. It is probable that John Deloach was born in the "Welsh Tract", Old Craven County, SC. The Deloach family moved to Beaufort District, SC about 1765, settling on Pipe Creek. It was at this place that John Deloach grew to maturity. John Deloach was a Revolutionary Soldier from SC. He served 60 days in the militia during 1781-1782. About 1790, John Deloach crossed the Savannah River and settled in Effingham County, Georgia. Although no marriage record has been located, it seems probable that John Deloach was married about 1791 to Elizabeth Durrence, oldest daughter of William Durrence and his wife, Elizabeth Williams.
The John Deloach family had moved from Effingham County and settled in Liberty County by 1802. On December 13, 1811, a large portion of Western Liberty County was cut off and annexed to Tattnall County. The John Deloach family was living in the part of Liberty County that became Tattnall. John Deloach's name first appears on the Tax Rolls of Tattnall County in 1812.
John Deloach became a member of Beard's Creek Baptist Church in 1808. His wife joined the congregation in 1811. John Deloach was granted lands on the Canoochee River in Tattnall County in 1812 and in 1816. This property is located in present day Evans County, near the towns of Claxton and Daisy. John Deloach was a Grand Juror for Tattnall County in 1818. It is tradition that John Deloach died after eating some wild honey and was the first person buried in the graveyard at Beard's Creek Church. This occurred about 1819. Elizabeth Deloach lived out her years in Tattnall County and it is believed that she died in that place after 1840. Her burial site is unknown.
