Born at Fort Edward House, Ardmayle, County Tipperary, Ireland. Emigrated to US and enlisted Sep 6 1861 into Co B, 12th Wisconsin Regiment. Died of wounds - his left leg had to be amputated after he was wounded on 30 Aug 1864 at Jonesboro,Ga. Married in 1859, he was predeceased by two sons and survived by his wife and a posthumous son. First cousin twice removed of author Elizabeth Bowen CBE (Farahy Church, Cork, Ireland), and second cousin once removed of Constance Lloyd (Staglieno Cemetery, Genoa, Italy), wife of playwright Oscar Wilde (Pere Lachaise Cemetery, Paris). Brother-in-law of Captain Charles Lochiel Cameron, 7th Louisiana Rgt, CSA and formerly of the British Army (Cameronians)(Fairmount Cemetery, Newark NJ).
