Services were October 18 at the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, for Mary S. McClain, age 98, Plainfield, who died October 13 in Hendricks Community Hospital, Danville. Rev. Donald McWilliams officiated. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
A native of Guilford Township, she was born Nov. 29, 1890, a daughter of James M. and Sarah E. (Hornaday) Barlow. She graduated from Indiana State Teachers College at Terra Haute.
On March 11, 1916 she married Charles W. McClain who preceded.
Mrs. McClain was the oldest living women in Plainfield and the oldest Plainfield High School graduate. She was in the Plainfield Sesquicentennial Parade, there, last month.
She was a member of the Plainfield Christian Church, the Order of the Eastern Star #414, Plainfield, the American Society of Civil Engineers Auxiliary, the Wa-Pe-Ke-Way Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Plainfield Woman's Club.
Survivors include a son, Warner McClain of Sun City, Ariz.; a daughter, Charlene Shumaker of Bloomington; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
