Charles R. Smoot, retired farmer of R.R. 1, Clayton, died, Sunday evening in the Golden Rule Nursing Home in Danville.
He was born June 10, 1882 the son of the late James and Arthina Phillips Smoot. He was married to the late Cora Hubbard Smoot who died in 1938. He was later married to the former Cora Rabb who survives.
He was a member of the Modern Woodman Lodge.
Services were conducted, Wednesday afternoon, in the Hazelwood Baptist Church, of which he was a member, with the Rev. Norman Grove officiating. Burial was in the Clayton Cemetery. The Carlisle & Son Mortuary of Mooresville were in charge of the arrangements.
Surviving with the widow are a son, Glen Smoot; a grandson, Lanny Smoot, and one great-granddaughter, Glenda Rene Smoot, all of Mooresville.
