Burch Farmer
Funeral for Burch Farmer, 86, of R-4, was Feb. 1. He died Jan. 30 at Stephens County Hospital.
Born in Stephens County, he was the son of the late Ben F. and Beulah Cash Farmer. He graduated from 9th A & M College. He resided in Holmes Beach, Fla. for 17 years before returning to Toccoa. Prior to retirement he was a superintendent with special services for the Norfolk-Southern Railway. He was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Toccoa, Toccoa Masonic Lodge and Toccoa Shrine Club. He continued his affiliation with Norfolk-Southern Railway after retirement and at one time was stationed in Washington, D.C.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Hopkins Farmer; sisters, Bertha Bowman of Toccoa, Beatrice Edmonds of Charlotte, N.C.; brothers, Howard Farmer of Silver Springs, Fla.; sister-in-law, Faye Farmer of Toccoa, and one niece and three nephews.
Funeral was 2 p.m. at the Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Claude Smithmier officiating. Burial was in Stephens Memorial Gardens.

3rd cousin 2X removed along mother's line. She was a Cash/Maxwell descending from James Maxwell, son of Reverend Thomas J. Maxwell who served in the American Revoluntionary War.
