Toccoa - Mrs. Jean Purcell Strange, 93, of 214 W. Doyle St., died in a local hospital late Thursday afternoon after an extended illness.
She was a daughter of the late Anderson and Mary Kesler Purcell. She was born in Franklin County and had lived the greater part of her life in Toccoa.
Prior to retirement, she was in the jewelry business in Toccoa with her husband, the late J. J. Strange. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Toccoa and the Emma Vickery Sunday School Class of the church.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Ethel P. Clark of Toccoa and Mrs. B. F. Tuck of Atlanta; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home by the Rev. Kelly Barnes. Burial will be in Toccoa cemetery.
