"CYNTHIA ANN MORGAREIDGE
Cynthia ann Garvin was born near Sharon, Noble, OH on Oct 3, 1836, being one of the eight children of James and Ann Garvin. She was the last of her family, her two brothers and five sisters having preceded her into the great beyond.
On Sep 15, 1859, she was married to Otis Oliver Morgareidge. This union was a peculiarly happy one, extending over 55 years. On March 1, 1915, death claimed the husband, and the months since have been but a weary waiting time for the faithful wife, who has ever longed to rejoin him. On Friday, June 2, 1916, after weary weeks of pain, the reunion came and "Mother" Morgareidge rejoined her loved ones.
Nearly all of the married life of Mr and Mrs Morgareidge was spent in OH, where their three sons-James S, Johnson W, and Alvah T were born and grew to manhood. In June, 1908, however, they came to Sheridan to be near their sons, John W and Alvah T Morgareidge, who were located here. These 8 years their sons carefully cherished them, striving in some slight measure to repay the devotion lavished on them all their lives.
Mrs Morgareidge, since her early girlhood, was a member of the Baptist Church of late years her membership being with the First Baptist Church of this city. Here the funeral services were held last Tuesday afternoon, being in charge of former paster, Rev. A I Jones. From the text, "Her children shall rise up and call her blessed", Mr Jones preached a beautiful and comforting sermon, wherein he emphasized the thoughtfulness, tenderness and cheerfulness of this good mother's life.
Those who have known "Mother" Morgareidge, as she was lovingly called, and have been inspired to greater faith and courage by her beautiful life, felt that every word her pastor said of her was a well deserved tribute. He closed with these words: "A sister's love is warm and kind, a brother's strong as hand of time, and sweet the love of kindred mind-but Mother, these are not like thine."
Following the services at the church, the interment took place in Mt Hope Cemetery, where her remains were laid beside her husband. And always, for many here in Sheridan, life will be better, braver, brighter because 8 years ago these two came to dwell among us."
