Lester J. "Les" Moody, 82, formerly of North Duffy Road, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Aspinwall Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Born March 6, 1922, in Belmore, Clay County, Fla., he was the son of Joseph Jesse and Eva Evelyn Townsend Moody.
He was a World War II Army veteran. He had been a cook at Deshon Hospital and retired from the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Henry E. (Joan A.) Beichner of Shippenville; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He also is survived by a sister and brother, Bessie Evelyn Tompkins and Raiford Joseph Moody, both of Jacksonville, Fla.
His wife, Alberta V. Holly Moody, whom he married March 25, 1944, died Sept. 2. 1977. Two brothers and three sisters also preceded him in death.
MOODY - Friends of Lester J. "Les" Moody, who died Wednesday, March 3, 2005, will be received from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services will follow at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Henry Hall, chaplain at the Butler V.A.M.C., officiating. Burial will be at West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
