Helen was born May 30, 1927 to Peter and Emma (Wierson) Vickre. She graduated from Radcliffe High School and married Harold Tjelmeland on August 5, 1945 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Radcliffe. Helen was a homemaker and worked at Bethany Manor in Story City. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, crafts and coffee with friends. Most important to Helen was her time spent with her three grandchildren and daughter Darla.
She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, and lived in the Roland area all her life.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Darla Tjelmeland; grandchildren, Dustin Andrew Drees, Emma Mae Drees and Mary Jane Camp; and sister-in-law, Lois Vickre.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold (June 6, 2006); brother, Arnold Vickre; 2 sisters, Erma Beran and Esther Clark; 2 brother-in-laws, Virgil Beran and Richard Clark.
