CLOVIS, N.M. - Byron O. Black, 77, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in 16th & Pile Church of Christ with Bobby Stice, Kenneth Jones, Bob Hawkins and Jim Gammons officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Garden by Steed-Todd Funeral Home.
Mr. Black was born and grew up in Brownfield. He attended Texas Tech University and served during World War II as a B24 pilot.
In 1941, he married Barbara Garrett and in 1946, they moved to Curry County, where he farmed and worked in building construction before working in real estate. He served on the Curry County Draft Board and was a deacon at the 16th & Pile Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jerry Black of Oakdale, Calif., and Jimmy Black of Bakersfield, Calif.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The family suggests memorials be to Plains Regional Hospice of Clovis; or 16th & Pile Church of Christ.
