OBITUARY-
AUSTIN -- The funeral for Erling Melvin Stundahl will be 11 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church in Austin with the Rev. Arvid Jovaag officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Austin.
Mr. Stundahl, 94, of Austin, a retired Hormel Foods Corp. employee, died Tuesday morning (Nov. 10, 1998) at Burr Oak Manor in Austin.
He was born April 9, 1904, in Oakland, Minn., and attended Sumner country school in District 28 near Oakland. On Oct. 19, 1929, he married Emelia Midge at Oakland Midway Lutheran Church. She died June 4, 1971. Mr. Stundahl was a farmer and later worked at Hormel until his retirement in 1970. He was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church and enjoyed lawn work, farming and animals.
Survivors include three sons, Everett, Melvin and Duane, all of Austin; three daughters, Beverly (Mrs. Don) Turner of Austin, and Merlene Smith and Sandra (Mrs. Bill) Knoff, both of Rochester; 35 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Peter of Austin. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters,two grandsons and a great-grandson.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and an hour before the service Friday at the church.
