According to her Metis Scrip (National Archives of Canada), she was born Aug. 4, 1874 in Green Lake (Manitoba), the daughter of Elzear Mignault (whiteman) and Marguerite Dionne aka Blanc-Dionne (metis).

She was married 1st to William Curran, in Winnipeg, June 25, 1894. She married 2nd to David Butchart, April 5, 1920 in Winnipeg.

OBIT:
One of Winnipeg's early residents, Mrs Victoria Butchart, 852, Weatherdon avenue, whose death occured Feb. 5 at Grace hospital, was buried Monday, at Brookside cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Father Turney at Mordue's. Mrs. Butchart was born in Quebec, P.Q. and came to Winnipeg with her parents, as an infant. She grew up at Upper Fort Garry and received her education at St. Boniface and St. Mary's convents. In 1894, she married William Curran, who was killed in action in the Great War in 1917. She was married to David Butchart in 1920. Surviving children include four daughters and one son: Mrs. (Grace) A. Ritchot, Mrs. (Blanche) G. Smith, Mrs. (Evelina) J.H. Jones, Mrs. (Edna) A. Normand, and W. H. Curran; and 11 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Gravesite Details

In the centre of the cross it appears there was once a plaque, but it is now gone. The remnants of some nails are still visible. On the base of the monument appears the date Feb. 5, 1937, which is the date of death of Victoria Butchart.
