The Rhinelander Daily News, February 20, 1954:

Joseph H. Lukowicz, Sr., 81, a retired boiler maker for the Chicago and North Western Railroad and a former Rhinelander resident, died Thursday night in the Langlade County Memorial Hospital at Antigo. He had been retired for 16 years. Born Dec. 22, 1872 in Milwaukee, he moved to Athens with his parents as a child. Prior to moving to Antigo 48 years ago, he lived in Rhinelander a number of years.

His wife, the former Frances Marszynski, to whom he was married April 2, 1895 in Marathon City, died in 1949.

Survivors include four sons, five daughters, 20 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday in St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church. The body is in the Soman-Bradley Funeral Home in Antigo where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Mrs. Jerry Bentley and Mrs. Eva Vaughn, sisters-in-law of Mr. Lukowicz, will go to Antigo to attend the funeral.
