Obituary: Having been in frail health all his life, Grand Cornelius Chesborough passed away Monday February 2nd, at the home of his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wallevand, of Henning at the age of 14 years. Grant was born i n Pinewood, Beltrami county, on March 16, 1934, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Chesborough, and was baptized in the Lutheran faith. On account of illness in the family his aunt, Mrs. Wallevand took him to care for and give him the special attention that was needed or his delicate condition. He lived the remainder of his life int he Wallevand home. Although he never was physically able to attend school, Grant obtained a remarkable education. His high interest in science which he studied at home, made it possible for him to enjoy and understand the workings of nature. His participation in 4-H club activities for six years was also a great contribution to his education. he always had a cheerful smile for everyone, and his friendly disposition gained him the admiration and respect of all who knew him. His father, a veteran of World War I, preceded him in death on January, 12, 1944. Among those he leaves to mourn his departure are, his foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wallevand; his mother, Mrs. Roy Chesborough, Pinewood; one brother, LeRoy, Pinewood; and his six sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Vincent (Avis), Dulcie, and Sadie, Bemidji; Ruby and JoAnn, Pinewood; and VIrginia, Henning. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Belmont Funeral Home and the Trinity Lutheran Church, Rev. A. Framstad officiating. Interment was made at the Girard Union Cemetery. Those from out-of-town attending the services were Mrs. Roy Chesborough, Pinewood; Dulcie Chesborough, Bemidji; Mrs. Geo. Karkhoff, Anoka; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Chesborough, Battle Lake; Lyle Jolson, St. Paul; Mrs. Henrietta Wallevand, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wallevand, Mr. and Mrs. Orris Wallevand, Norman Wallevand, Mrs. Robert Herbranson, and Einer Jorgenson, all of Vining. The 4-H club mothers served lunch at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wallevand.
