May 26, 1930 – July 30, 2013

Ruth Dossie Cochran, 83 of Monroe went to be with our precious Lord and her family on Tuesday July 30, 2013 at 5:14 p.m. at Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania. She had been in poor health for two weeks.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday August 4 at the Rupp Funeral Home. She will lie instate Monday August 5 at 10 a.m. in The First Wesleyan Church, with funeral services at 11 a.m. Rev Paul Roemer, pastor will officiate with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.

Born May 26, 1930 in Monroe she was the daughter of Otis and Cleo (Heath) Smith. She married James E. Cochran, Sr. on January 13, 1968 in Monroe.

Ruth was employed by La-Z-Boy Inc., retiring in 1995. She was also employed by Michigan Bell Telephone. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers, and also loved to watch the birds, making sure they always had their daily food and water. Ruth and Jim spent many summers up north, enjoying their property in Farwell.

Ruth came into the family's lives forty-five years ago, and has been a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

Surviving are her husband James, Sr.; sons, James (Chris)) Cochran, Jr. and David (Paula) Cochran; daughters, Susan (Dale) Bagby and Jennifer Cochran; brothers, Joseph (Kay) Smith and Karl (Barbara) Smith; sister Esther (Cook) McKeehan; grandchildren Jeremy (Amanda) Cochran, Tiffany Cochran, Josh (Amanda) Cochran, Chad (Becca) Chocran, Patricia (Scott) (Boylan) Lanzenburger, Michael Boylan, Jr. and Andrew Boylan; Step grandchildren Corey Mayo, Lance Mayo and Aubrey Mayo; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, son Timothy Cochran; grandson Joseph Cochran; brothers, Earl Smith and Paul Smith.
