Virginia "Gin" (Shane) Breitenstine, 81, of Clinton, died Wednesday evening, Jan. 21, 2009, at Pleasant View Health Care Center in Barberton.

"Gin" was born Feb. 5, 1927, in Wayne County, to George and Isabel Shane and married Herman Breitenstine in February 1945. He died in March 1981. She was a homemaker and in her earlier years had worked at Seiberling Rubber Co.

She loved to play cards and was an avid bird watcher. "Gin" fed the birds faithfully and got very upset when the squirrels would destroy her feeders and eat the seed. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her flowers.

Surviving are daughters, Lori (Chuck) Conner and Lynn (Rick) Androsco, both of Akron; grandchildren, Alethea and Charles Conner and Christi (Mike) Booth; a great-grandson, Nate Booth; sisters, Dorothy "Dolli" Howell and Bess (Lester) Gerber, both of Wooster; and a very good, helpful friend, Dennis Hood of Clinton.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Pete Moore and Willie Shane; a sister, Gladys Dunfee; and an infant brother, William.
