Timothy Henry Tagler was born October 26, 1944 in Sacramento, CA. Tim's parents were Henry Tagler and Gladys Schwertzler Tagler, who cared for more than two dozen foster children awaiting adoption, while raising their own three children, Carl, Holly and Tim. Tim was a popular student in the Class of 1962 at Menlo-Atherton High School in Menlo Park, California.

Tim loved working on cars and was a mechanic and driver at the Fremont Dragstrip in Fremont, California. In the 8th-grade at Hoover School, he wrote in the school paper that he wanted to customize cars for a living. Tim died March 1, 1964 in an automobile accident coming home from the Fremont Dragstrip at age 19. He is interred at Holy Cross Cemetery in Menlo Park, alongside his parents.
