Charlotte ‘Char' Kison, 61
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 10, 7:15 p.m. at David's Star Ev. Lutheran Church, 2740 David's Star Drive, Jackson, for Charlotte "Char" Kison who died on Thursday May 6, 2010, at the age of 61 at The Kathy Hospice in West Bend. Visitation was held at the church on Monday May 10, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Interment will be today, May 11 at 10 a.m. at David's Star Cemetery

Char was born in the town of Polk on Oct. 25, 1948, the daughter of Benjamin and Doris Schmidt. Char was united in marriage on Oct. 5, 1980, at Peace United Church of Christ in Jackson to Rodney Kison. They were blessed with a son, Jonathan.

Char was a first grade teacher for two years and then became a kindergarten teacher for the next 34 years, all in the Germantown School District. She was very active at David's Star Ev. Lutheran Church as a Sunday school teacher, teachers aide, Ladies Aid, member of the mixed choir and a leader in a women's Bible study group and many other church events. Char enjoyed singing and sang for many weddings and funerals. She also enjoyed volunteering at Christian Life Resources, gardening, flowers and had an extensive collection of Longaberger baskets.

Those Char leaves behind to cherish her memories include her loving and caring husband, Rod; son, Jonathan; parents, Benjamin and Doris Schmidt; sister, Gail (Dan) Filzen; brother, Keith Schmidt; mother-in-law, Lorain and the late Herbert Kison; and brothers-in-law, Chuck (Donna), Denny (Kathy), Terry (Lisa), Randy (Patty), Jim (Lisa Marie) and Keith (Cathy) Kison. She is further survived by other relatives and many friends.

Char's family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many doctors in the last five months, including Dr. Mary Otterson, Dr. David Larsen, Dr. Wade Mueller, Dr. Joseph Bovi, Dr. Jennifer Connelly, Dr. Brian Wolter and Dr. Gary Herdrich. Also thank you to the nursing staff at 3NT at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital and The Kathy Hospice for their wonderful care of Char.

Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg assisted the family with arrangements.
