Rev. Beverly Simpson, an anointed and extraordinary Woman of God. She was the fourth of six girls born to Susie and William Simpson. Raised by her grandmother, Jessie Mae Hudson "Mama Jessie", Beverley was destined for greatness. Graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. Understanding the importance of an education, Beverley continued studies at Coppin State University.
She obtained employment at several companies in the city to include Johns Hopkins and Church Home Hospitals, where she served in the hospitals operating rooms, she also worked for the Social Security Administration Office. Later Beverley became employed as the Executive Administrator for City Council President, Bernard C. "Jack" Young, as a place where she served with dignity and distinction from October 1996 until the time of her passing.
Beverley knew that no matter what she accomplished in life, nothing greater or was more important than her relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. She was bapyized early in life ans was a member of Faith Baptist Church. It was during the time that her son Dwayne was attending United Baptist Church, that God called her to a greater and deeper relationship with Him. She rededicated her life to Christ and became a member of United Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor, Dr. George Vanderford. God began to use Beverley mightily. She accepted her call to preach and was licensed to the Gospel Ministry under Pastor Vanderford on February 12, 1987 and later was the first female ordained minister at United under Pastor Carl J. Solomon on September 13, 1996. Rev. Simpson served as a teacher, advisor, counselor and Associate Minister.
Later, Rev. Simpson served at Mount Tabor Baptist Church under Pastor Walter M. Forrest, Sr., where she served as Assistant to the Pastor, president of the Pastor's Aide Ministry and also taught the New Member Class and Bible Study faithffully. Rev. Simpson's life of preaching the Gospel spanned over twenty-four years.
Cherishing her memory and celebrating her victorious life are: her son, Dwayne Gregory Simpson, and his wife Jenelle, whom she saw as her own daughter; her five grandchildern, whom she adored and loved unconditionally; four sister whom she loved; several nieces and nephews who spent many hours with her receiving an abundance of love that only she could give. Though she only had one biological son, Rev. Simpson was instrumental in the guidance and direction of ten godchildren whom she loved very much as her own, as well as adopted children and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceded her in death: her sister Lillian; grandson, Carrington; great-granddaughters, Kenni and Kaelyn.
